do original games load fine? if not then most likely your laser is close to being dead.

NTSC DNAS threads.

i say get a new more updated chip like a DMS4 Pro SE or Matrix Infinity that has auto boot for the games.
You just stick in your back up and it loads with no extra steps.

I would more agree with WEStar. Sounds like a laser issue. No mod chip will fix a weak laser problem.

that depends. If it worked fine, then you had a modchip installed and all of a sudden you had this problem. Then it could be as much the mod chips fault as the laser.

playing around with the laser angle, and cleaning the lens would of course be a good first step that you could do yourself at home.
Just read a good guide and be careful! make sure that if you do this that you mark the laser's original position with a marker on the thing that you turn to adjust it so that it can be retuurned there is needed. And be careful when opening the case as the ribbons in there can come out quite easily.
