Can Anyone Help Me With This One When I Make A Back Up Of My DVD's Some Of The Films Play Perfect But Some Of Them Keep Pausing/Jumping For A Second Or Two But I Can Copy The Same Film Onto The Same Sort Od Disc And It Plays Perfect. I Have Tried Cleaning The Heads On Both My DVD Player And My DVD Drive Neither Work And I Have Tried A Different DVD Player This Is Really Annoying Me
There are several things to think about regarding this issue.
Media quality.
Burn Speed
Paper labels
Some brands of media utilize inferior dye and press processes which will cause playback issues. Try to use the best possible media available. A couple of good ones are Taiyo Yuden and Verbatims.
Burning at too high a speed will also cause playback pauses and pixelations. Try to burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the media or a little less. This is a situation where you will have to find the best speed that your burner burns at and will require some trial and error. You might want to us a RW disc for this sampling process.
Paper labels will also cause pauses and pixelations on playback. I do not use or recommend them at all. I use a sharpie on my discs.
I hope this info gives you a starting point to begin your eval process.
The problem you're describing is usually caused by:
1) Burning to poor quality media.
2) Burning too fast.
3) If freezing/skipping twards the end of the movie, you're possibly burning too close to the disk's outer edge.
4) There is a possible incompatibility issue between your DVD player and the media you're using/trying to play in it.
Try:
1) Try another brand of media, like sony DVD+Rs(look for made in japan on the packaging), Verbatim, TY's.
2) Try and burn at no greater than 1/2 the rated speed of the media, but 4x is always a safe speed to start at or slow down to.
3) Try having DVD Shrink create smaller file sizes of 4300MB (or nero's recode 2), run shrink and goto:edit-->preferences, in the preferences tab choose custom from the dropdown menu and enter a value of 4300.
4) Make sure the standalone player you're using is able to play the media you're putting in it, so read the manual for compatible formats. If the player is old, consider buying a new one (they're pretty cheap nowadays) that will play all known formats. The only othe option for older players is to booktype DVD+R media as DVD-ROMs since all player will play that format. This can only be done to DVD+R media and your drive must also suppot it. Here's some info on it;
The last thing I would advise you to do is to make sure your burner's firmware is upto date, you can use Nero or DVD Decrypter to check what version you currently have installed, and use decrypter to check for an update for you (in the tool menu I believe).
I Only Copy On The Lowest Speed Setting Anyway And I Do Not Use Paper Labels I Print Labels Directly To DVD. I Also Understand About Bad Media But This Problem Only Occurs Sometimes I Have Burned Same Film Twice Both On The Same Type Media One Jumps Where As The Other One Plays Perfect
Don't burn any lower than at 4x speed, too low isn't always a good thing either. Depending on the media you're using, there could be inconsistancy problems associated with it, especially if it's bad stuff, the inconsistancy could be solved thru a firmware update if one is available for your drive.
I Have Tried Updating My Nero Firmware But keeps Coming Up I Do Not Have Acsess But I Am Administrator I Do Not Understand It. That Helps Alot Mate Proberbly Where I Have Been Going Wrong I Normally Burn At x1 Or x2 At The Most But Now I Know That Will Burn At x4 Cheers Matey And Idea Why Nero Will Not Update

You need to be logged in your PC as an Administrator in order to be able to make changes, so make sure you're not logged in as a limited user.
By firmware update, I meant the software for you're burner, it should be upto date.
Ok How Do I Check Firmware For My Burner. Neo Is 6.6.0.8 Tryin To Upgrade To 6.6.1.4 But Will Not Work . I Am Logged In On The Only One Available To Log On To And Classed As Administrator
Error:\nCannot connect TRF. ***************************
The above error has been associated with the latest version of nero6 version 6.6.1.4, this version will not function when used with DVDshrink for autoburning and there has been no fix as of yet. If you want to continue using shrink to autoburn with nero, then..
Write down your nero serial# and then uninstall your current version of nero6 from your system using the general cleantool found here:
If you want version 6.6.1.4, then you'll need to burn manually. *********************************************************************
To check and see what version firmware is currently installed for your burner, you can run the nero info tool, and click on the drive tab, there the version will be displayed.
You can also use DVD decrypter (if installed) to check as well, look under the TOOLS menu, here you can check for firmware rev as well as have decrypter check for updates if available.
