Hey guys, I just picked up an Epson R220 that will print DVDs. My issue is that I hate the software that came bundled with the printer for the covers. I think I can plug in the numbers in photoshop and select CD/DVD as the media type to print but I do not know how big I should make my image. I can trial and error the process but I figured you guys might be able to save me a few coasters. Thanks.

What's wrong w/ the software it came with ?

I have an Epson R3000, & the software works great.

Downloaded images fit onto disc flawlessly.

I kinda gave up using Photoshop, too many trial and errors and settled for the default softare. I'm using the Epson R320. I suppose if someone did have the photoshop specs would be nice.

I'm in the same boat with my Epson R340. The Epson software is minimal at best. Photoshop and Corel 12 are very complicated to do what some of this other label making software will do with a couple of clicks. I earlier asked here about a couple of software packages and if anyone used them to see if they were as easy as they looked but no replies. I was looking at Acoustica and Sure Thing. Their texting abilities are what I like. Can't do this "easily" with the bigger programs mentioned, although it can be done with too much time and effort as I see it. Guess I'll try the demos and see how things are first hand.

The work around I am using right now is creating my image in photoshop and then importing the .tiff into the epson software. I would like to be able to print it right from photoshop. But this method works if you want the editing features of photoshop. I think building an image from scrath with that Epson Print CD software is crazy. I mean even the templates they have look like junk! And these were supposed to be done by their professionals using it. Anyways, if anyone else has any suggestions please reply. Thanks.

I just printed my first label on a Maxell DVD+R "Print to Center" disc.
My question is on the Epson R320, what do I have to do to be able to go all the way to the center. The disc I printed didn't even go to the hub. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

With the Epson Print CD software open, look at the line of icons down the left side. Third from bottom, is a yellow or gold colored disc image. Click on it. That's for the inner/outer diameter settings. For print to center discs, set to:

Make sure "Custom CD" is checked.
Inner Diameter - 18mm or 20mm (see which works best with your media)
Outer Diameter - 118mm is what I use.
May need to make adjustments, as you buy different brand media.
Good luck!

Yeah JVC is right. I found it was a bit of trial and error. The media I have is white pretty much all the way to the center so I set it to the minimum and checked underneath the dvd to see if I could see any ink printed on the clear part. Then I adjusted accordingly.

thanks JVC, you are such a big help.

What brand of printable media do you use? I only grabbed the Maxell from Walmart because I wanted to try the printer out.

I've been using the maxells from Wal Mart also.
Just make sure you get the ones that are made in Japan, and not Taiwan. It will say on the pkg. where they're made.........
Good luck!

How are you guys printing to the disc? Everytime I print the image is printed in the bottom left portion of the disc. I have it set for the source as CD/DVD as well as the media to CD/DVD. Is there anything I could be missing? This is on an R320 Epson.

I'm taking it for granted that you're lining up the arrows, on cd tray, with arrows on the printer...............

With Epson Print CD open, see the icons on left side. There is a green disc icon. Click on it. In the window that opens, there is a sample image, with up/down slide on right of image, and left/right slider below the image. The sliders should be exactly center, each way. The numbers will read as 0.0 for both. Then click ok. If that is set right, and your arrows are lined up, and you get the image into the template right, it should print perfect. If it doesn't print perfect, with all this set right, then you have a problem with the printer, I'd say.

If that doesn't work, before throwing it out, I'd try reinstalling the printer and software, from scratch. Something could possibly have been corrupted.
Good luck!
