I was reading a post that said it is good to have AnyDVD or DVD43 running in the background. It said that AnyDVD is a 21 day free trial and that DVD43 is free. I can not find DVD43. Is it still available. Thanks.

I am also a fan of AnyDVD and have not regretted buying it. The main problem with DVD43 is that it is not updated as regularly so that it will not handle some newer releases

Yeh, DVD43 hasn't been updated since December or January. The guys either gave up or probably haven't received enough donations to support the effort. Donating is the way to go to keep efforts like Decrypter, shrink and DVD43 alive. Also keeping MPAA out of the picture would help.

Who is that shadowy figure?

DVD43 is good and if you like tinkering on every movie title combining this that and the other software you'll find it works with more movies than it's given credit for. I like to tinker but have very little time to do so. With that said I use AnyDVD faithfully. Overall it's more reliable and their support for this program focus on the real problematic issues that arise when backing up movies. In my now a days I am attracted to more of a sure shot software and AnyDVD along with Nero 6 Recode2, VOB Blanker, & DVD Shrink my efforts are still challenging but made easy at the same time.:P

If you don't want to dish out any $ hands down right now DVD FAB Decrypter VOB Blanker (if needed) & DVD Shrink are the way to go...

personally I use AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2 Combo but if I have a problem with a dvd or I want to edit out some things (ads trailers etc) I use Dvd Fab Decrypter VOB Blanker and CloneDVD 2
