@cujo007, What was your compression rate and did you do the entire movie with menu & extras? Though CloneDVD2 works very well with AnyDVD. My major issue with CloneDVD2 is that this program tends to have the lowest compression rates of any burn program I've used (Not Good)and it has varied with differnt films sometimes with better results than others. I backed up the same movies on Friday and because of the low compression with CloneDVD2 I decided to go with AnyDVD ripper then VOB Blanker then Nero Recode2 though this was NOT my 1st choice either. I'd would have rather used AnyDVD to SHRINK to Nero Recode2. I guesS I'm asking how was the picture quality on those films using CloneDVD2. It did a horrible job on "JarHead" a few weeks back.:P

Re: N2DVD, I only back up the main movie, Can't stand the previews & extras. I understand where you're coming from when it comes to the compression rate however I tried something out over the weekend. I loaded my file into both Clone DVD2 & shrink just to compare the compression rates. When backing up the movie alone, they were pretty much identical. I play mine back on a 50 inch HD Hitachi & notice no difference between movies backed up with Clone & Shrink. Using these 2 programs is also a major time saver. It eliminates the extra steps. Compression rate on The Greatest Game was 91% & the movie was 2 hours long. Can't recall the exact compression rates on the others but they were faily high as well.

Just giving an update:

With AnyDVD running, I first ran Wolf Creek through VOBB to remove all those annoying screens (FBI etc.). Afterwards, I compressed the entire disc with Shrink. I burned with Decryptor.

Perfect backup!

I dunno why some people had problems backing this up with AnyDVD.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

I used the AnyDVD ripper on Greatest Game and then compressed and burned with Nero Recode. Did Fun With Dick and Jane with the AnyDVD Ripper and then used DVD Remake to remove everything but the menu and choose Widescreen movie, did not even need compressing and had space left over on a DVD5.

I don't know if this helps anyone, but I figured out what the issue with wolf creek and other movies with Clone Dvd is. It seems that Alliance and Sony have put a cyclic protection in the menus of these movies. I used the latest copy of clone dvd and any dvd and would only get errors. If you leave the perserve menu box unchecked CloneDVD will Burn the Disc no problem. So hopefully AnyDVD will start to look for copy protection within the menus and evrything would be fixed. Clever of Sony to use old copy protection, but in new places.

@kedm, What you have now noticed is not new at all. corupting the menu files has been a very common means of encrypting DVD's for some time now. You may have noticed many members here back up "Movie Only" because of this tactic of encryption being used. This method is also commonly used with adult film (DVD). Wolf Creek was not a tough movie for me at all AnyDVD and NERO Recode2 did it for me, But yes otherwise tough without AnyDVD:p

That debate has been done, you can see the reasoning for AnyDVD here.
