Hi I need help with a problem i'm having with a mini-DVD.
I recorded several minutes of video on my Hitachi camcorder. I then "finalized" the DVD, which means that it generates .VOB, .IFO, and .BUP files for viewing. when i go to play it, it "hangs up" on a certain part of one clip, and I get a "cyclic rerdundancy check" message.

From the pieces i've put together on these boards, I've downloaded and installed DVDShrink, and tried that. it worked for one of the clips, but got an error message on one other (presumably the same on that hangs me up every time). I also tried DVDFab Express to copy all files to my hard drive which seemed to work, but then DVDShrink can't seem to find these files. All i am trying to do is see if i can repair these files so i can watch all the clips. Any further advice is much apprreciated.

I'm a COMPLETE newbie when it comes to digital video, editing, etc., so 3rd grade language in a response will be a big help.
thanks!

Vlakarl- I think that this thread should have been posted under Digital video discussion > Digital camcorders. I am not sure if you need shrink with this. I think what you have is a damaged disk. I am sure you can find a disk repair kit with your search engine.

The reason I don't think you need shrink is because you can loose a lot of video quality. Most people use shrink to downsize a movie that has more disk space than there disk can handle. Try cleaning the disk. Then you may get the result that you want.

As far as using a decrypter...If I read correctly this is a movie that you created. There should be nothing in the way of blocking the home movie. Maybe try reposting in the forum I mentioned above. I personally don't have a video camera. I hope my information helped a little. Good luck
