Hello everyone. I keep getting an I/O error after i try to use dvd decryptor. I tried using diff dvds. Could using Dvdfab help? The problem i am worried about is one of them is an old movie. can anyone help me out? Also i was wondering if i could post the actual error on here? I have seen other people do it, but i was wondering how. thanks

Are you using decrypter to rip or burn when you get the i/o error? You reference using different dvd's so I'm not sure if you mean different originals (rip) or different brands (burn).
Older movies shouldn't be a problem if you can rip it.
Now dvd fab - that's only a ripper - does not burn - but will be able to rip the movies decrypter no longer can.
Yes you can post the error - just copy and paste the text in your post.

hey binkie, I am using dvd decryptor to burn when the error pops up. I meant using diff dvd brands. Does dvd decryptor actually burn the dvd? The problem i am having is not just with new movies. Its with old ones also. Decryptor is totally inopertable right now for me. But now i tried using Dvdfab and im lost after i ripped it. I dont know how to burn now it using dvd fab.

Few questions for you to see if we can sort this out:
*what brand of discs have you tried
*make, model and firmware of your burner
*what burn speed are you using
DVD Decrypter will rip & burn - DVD Fab decrypter is only a ripper.
Depending on the size of the movie - you may need to compress them to fit on a single layer disc unless you are using dual layer.
So here's a guide using dvdfab (rip), shrink (compress) & decrypter (burn)

Do you have any other burning software?

Binkie,
I have been using Memorex, Maxell, TDK, and Sony. I am currently using memorex. I have been using 4X for the burn speed. For the burner software im not very sure, I just thought that decryptor did all that. All i had been doing is DVD Shrink then Decryptor, and it worked fine for sbout 100 movies, just recently has it been sending me this error. I tried Dvdfab and then shrink then decryptor but the error still came up. i tried to right click to copy it, but it wouldnt work. Shrink works fine, it is just when i try to burn with decryptor it sends the same error.

If the Maxell & Sony are made in Japan - stick with those. Memorex and TDK can be iffy at best - depends on who manufactured them. Those 2 I'd stay away from esp. Memerox.
Now how about your drive? Make and model? Is your firmware up to date?
I/O errors usually mean your drive doesn't like the disc -if the firmware isn't up to date an update may help.
You can also post your log from decrypter - did you save it by chance?
When decrypter is running you can just press 'L' and the log will appear.

When the log comes up to save just click file>save as. Pick the name and where your want to save it to. Or you can just copy and paste the log in a post.
In decrypter go to Tools>Drive>Check for Firmware update. It will give you a screen like this w/ the latest version #:

Click ok and it will take you to the firmware page to see if there is a newer version.
Or you can check your drives manufacturer's site.

Just missing the 1st piece that gives the drive and disc info.
Looks like this:
I 20:27:36 Source File: C:\HONEYSHRUNKIDS_US.MDS
I 20:27:36 Source File Sectors: 2,261,648 (MODE1/2048)
I 20:27:36 Source File Size: 4,631,855,104 bytes
I 20:27:36 Source File Application Identifier: ELBY CLONEDVD
I 20:27:36 Source File Implementation Identifier: ELABORATE BYTES
I 20:27:36 Destination Device: [0:1:0] LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S VS0M (D:) (ATA)
I 20:27:36 Destination Media Type: DVD+R (Disc ID: YUDEN000-T02-00) (Speeds: 2.4x, 4x, 6x, 8x)

The error you getting is telling your your drive doesn't like the media. Were you able to check for a firmware update?
