Hello, I have a Version 9 PS2 and I'm looking to get either a mod chip or another set of swap magic discs.

I've been looking around and I saw DMS4 EZI pro that has piqued my intrest. How well does it work? I have no soldering experiences. I had a fliptop for my old PS2 but my laser died out so I'm looking for something that isn't so rough on my PS2's laser. Mostly I would be using it for Music Sim backups, but I still have quite a few of my old backups I would like to play.

So basically I am asking How well does the No solder DMS4 EZI pro work and how well do the new Swap magic 3.6's work? (used to use 2.x)

oh, also how easy is the DMS EZI to install?

P.S

For either one, where is the best place to buy one. I'm not too concerened about the price as I am about speedy shipping.

OK, I just went through this entire process and have learned a lot over the last few weeks.

I have (had) a V7 that I purchased the DMS4 EZI Lite and installed it myself. The EZI doesn't require any hardware soldering and it's pretty simple to install. The chip worked fine for a week and then all of a sudden, just died. After getting nowhere with the company that sold it to me (consolesource.com), I purchased a DMS4 PRO SE from another company.
My buddy, who has basic soldering skills, tried to install the new chip in my V7 and ruined the motherboard (basically he cross wired a couple of points accidentally). Don't attempt to solder it yourself unless you have great solder skills.
After getting a new (used) V7, I shipped the chip and the new system to a professional mod installer, who did it flawlessly in a couple of hours.
After talking to the installer, he basically told me that the EZI chips are useless because they have a high failure rate. Basically he told me to avoid the EZI chips at all costs.
I can't speak for the MI or Crystal chips, but I can tell you that the DMS4 Pro SE is a great chip. I wouldn't get the Lite if you want to boot off a hard drive because you'll need to boot off a cd if you want to load the hd (with the Pro you don't need a CD).
Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the reply, I read around a little more and ended up getting the same chip you have. Sending it off to get installed. Thanks you very much for the response though.
