Staples:
They have a 2 week special,and sony are listed again.That's 3 straight weeks for sony media sales.
50 pack spindles of 1x-16x for $14.94. The 1x-8x's are getting scarce. This is ok media,and there may be some Ty-g03's in the japanese dash spindles with the white/octagon spacer.

Their plus 1x-16x are SonyD21 from both taiwanese and Japanese spindles. This is ok quality media,but not like verbatim or taiyo yuden.

They also have:
300 gb maxtor HD for $99.94 after rebate
100 pk slimline jewel cases for $14.99
Staples photo paper for $1.94- 30 pk 8.5x11 or 50 pk 4x6

The only thing that is looking good to me is the DL Verbs, which I need some of. Otherwise so far there is slim pickens this week. I cannot find any MIJ Fuji's in my area. Just ordered from supermedia because I can get Taiyo Yuden's for 28.00 and free shipping, they are -R but they still burn flawless and much better than having to try and find MIJ's.

I'm with you Arniebear! I only order mine from Supermediastore.com for those TYs..... but I get the +Rs so I booktype to DVD-ROM. Still flawless burns for me!

I was wondering when this thread was gonna be created! ;)

Looks like I'll get the 20 pack of DLs but after that, I won't need any for a very long time.

Good stuff as always.

I haven't seen any MIJ Fuji's in a few months, the newer 16X Fuji around here are all made in Taiwan. It's too bad because BJ's Wholesale club is having another $9.99 for a spindle of 50 later on in the month..4/29-5/5. coupon required.

If they have the Fuji +8x,then they may likely yield as Ritek-R03's. These are very good discs. I've burned tons of the Office Depot +8x Ritek-R03's.

That's 20 cents each ritek-R03! Great price. I'd pick them up for that price if we had a BJ's.

Edit: Here's some MID codes for Fuji +8x media:

Fujifilm DVD+R 8x (RICOHJPNR02)
Fujifilm DVD+R 8x (YUDEN000T02)

It's from dogbombs thread,but there should be some Ritek-Ro3's in them. The plus 8x format has some pretty good manufacturers. Not so fortunant for their dash 8x media.

Fuji MIJ media is almost gone! Stop wasting your time and get used to it! The only way you're going to find any is in the 30 and 50 pack color towers, and that is rarely found anyplace other than Fry's or Outpost.

8x media is being phased out in favor of 16x media. Technology marches on! That's life! Deal with it and stop whining.

It's time for folks to move on and start adjusting their expectations to what is actually available in the marketplace, instead of pining away for the good 'ol days.

I've had a look at your post history and all I can say is you need to seriously lighten up. Contrary to what you may think you don't know everything so the sooner you figure that out the better.

yeah no kidding, SOME people actually still hunt the slower media simply for the price, not to mention not everyone has 16x burner so why pay for the media when you can only burn at 4x,8x, etc? I see no need for you to continue to belittle people just because they dont follow your opinion. Not everyone thinks the same, "get over it, move on, stop whining" as you say.

Negritude: Some peeps like me have tv recorders in which 4x speed,and maybe 8x speed media works.I haven't tested 16x verbs in mine yet. I've got a stash of Verbatim +8x which works for her,but even they are getting harder to find.

Those older DVD-RW drives are the same. Older 4x writers may not have had a firmware update in years. Slap a 16x disc in it,and it'll probably spit it right back at you during the lead-in phase.

@saugmon

I have to agree with you on the use of 8x media, my Panasonic DVD-R only takes -R format, so that is why I ordered from supermedia can still get TY's for it. I did update the fw in the recorder yesterday and Panasonic states it is supposed to make the recorder more compatible with the 16x media, I will wait and see on that one. However, my old NEC 1300a fw is only 4x although it burns okay on the 16x Verbs it does have some recognition problems on the Fuji 16x.

@arniebear - without wanting to veer too much into dvd recorders, what model is that as i have one (Panasonic DMR-ES20D) and i so far only use 4x -RW in it, haven't tried any of my 16x +R MCC004 in it yet as i don't record anything off the recorder to keep. i'd better try a 16x disc on it while it's on my mind though as i can't remember what other discs it can read & write, better dig the manual out too....

@creaky

I have the Panasonic E80H which is the one with the HDD in it so you can record to the HDD and the burn it later, or edit what you want out and then burn. You can go to the Panasonic site and dl fw for certain model recorders.

I slapped an MCC-004 verb in my cyberhome recorder and it recognized it. I am quite surprised.

Office Depot has their brand name media on sale, Spindles of 50 for $12.99 and the picture appears to be 16x speed. Still pricey in my book, for Ricohjpn-r03 media on that +16x OD media.
