U will ave to open up the PSP, theres a guide around somewhere but if ur all ready out of warrenty u got noting to lose so go ahead.
But if not it will void ur warrenty.

yea when you are opening up your psp there is a warranty sticker that tells you that as soon as you open it up you are going to void your warranty.
that problem you described is the same problem i have.
the site i posted has a tutorial on opening your psp and replace buttons.

damn..ii..i might as well, wtf, u noe? cus eventually its prolly gon break, and if i send it in to sony to fix it, those bastards mite me give me a 2.5 or something and replace the psp...
