I just purchased "Fun with Dick & Jane", "An Unfinished Life", and "The Greatest Game Ever Played" I also purchase a few more but these are the tough ones. Loaded with Arccos PuppetLock & Macrovison RipGuard. I was a able to back-up a copy of each Using AnyDVD's newly featured Ripper introduced on AnyDVD version 5.9.1.1 and has since been improved. We all have our ways of accomplishing this feat. I'm just explaining what worked for me. I ripped each of these films to my C:Drive using AnyDVD. Hoping this would be enough and hoping my next step would be to back them up using NERO, SHRINK, or even CloneDVD2. So much for hope, I could not back up any of these films successfully using just the files created with AnyDVD ripper with any of the burn programs mentioned.

What did work for each was to run each ripped file through VOB BLANKER 2.0.1.1 then through NERO Recode2. These steps took longer than I anticipated and in doing so I ended making 2 sets of files for each film and having to delete the 1st files ripped though AnyDVD then used the files processed in Vob Blanker to burn the films to disc in NERO. CloneDVD2 showed the most potential being able to back up the 1 of the 3 but the compression was an anticipated low 46% processing them through VBB allowed the compresion to increase to an acceptable rate of 63% with highest being 67% including menu and extras. The other films I purchased were "Wolf Creek", the "The Dark", which posed no trouble at all.:P

The new version of AnyDVD was supposed to be updated for the latest copy protection & it was supposed to eliminate the need for VOB Blanker. If what you say is true, & I can't say it isn't being some of us have to wait until tuesday for the new releases,I have faith that Slysoft will be coming out with another update at the beginning of the week. Maybe you should pass your info onto Slysoft.

although it takes a little longer, i getting into the habit of:
AnyDVD ripper to HD/vobblanker/Recode2/copytodvd.
one should be able to backup any movie out there with this method.
p:s: remember to always keep these softwares updated.

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

NOTE: no offense here and I'm not going to point this directly to anyone.

However, I'm wondering why AnyDVD (a retail cracking engine) doesn't work, yet VobBlanker (FREE and simple) can successfully "processed" and filter out those junks/craps flawlessly? On top of that, AnyDVD needs to keep on "updating" so it can bypass/crack the latest "wrong/invalid structure and PGC (program chain)", while VobBlanker (FREE) doesn't need to be updated whatsoever. Isn't this ironic?

Again, all I ever needed is "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker" and the rest is easy as sippin' on some Hennessey.

Cheers to all, best of lucks and happy burning!

I'm confident that Shrink and AnyDVD (the absolute latest one) will be able to handle the new releases I'll be picking up on Tuesday (Wolf Creek, Dark, Dick & Jane).

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

Yeah Alkohol, it is ironic. It's just weird that this tool needs updates to copy newer movies that have no advanced protection. For example I read a post from a guy who could not copy Brokeback Mountain with AnyDVD and it turned out he was one update behind. Alternately, DVD Decrypter could copy this disc without any issues, and it hasn't been updated forever. Doesn't exactly make me want to go out and buy the thing honestly.

I was using the absolute latest version of AnyDVD 5.9.5.3, (No offense taken)I own the software no patches. SHRINK & AnyDVD did not work like on movies released previously laced with Arccos and RipGaurd. It's like these guys (Sony and Macrovision) train for the fight, willing to give all a go for title (Get it "Title"He He). Believe me the method I explained above was a last resort after trying all of the more typical methods. They did not work. SHRINK initialized with view of a long black screen then an error. I am glad the method mentioned worked. VOB Blanker does not always work either sometimes I'm am unable to open the folders made in VBB. But I will always give it a chance if needed.

********UPDATE***********SHRINK 3.2 USER ERROR****************OOPS:)

Hi all, I just noticed an error on my part while backing up the documentary "DEEP BLUE" and the movies mentioned above, "DEEP BLUE" has much of the same encryption found on the movies above. I backed this up using the more typical method of AnyDVD+SHRINK 3.2 to NERO Recode2 with no problem? People, I noticed that I had the "Enable Video Preview" box unchecked during the initial "Analysis" in SHRINK 3.2 This explains the longer than normal black screen I mentioned previously. Though, during the initial back-up there is a black screen at first it goes away and you begin to see the rapid encoding process with picuture as normal. Not seeing this this lead me to believe that encryption on the disc was giving SHRINK trouble and I moved on to another method. Anyway I got to use the AnyDVD ripper feature and learned some things in the process. I hope I didn't scare or raise too many concerns. I'm glad I relalized my oversight. My apologies.:P

Yep, once you miss one or two updates this "super fantastic" program can't even handle some discs that have no special protection. Personally, I think that is total BS when they call the thing AnyDVD.

If you don't like a program, don't use it. No one is twisting arms here. To each their own......

"To each their own" or not, what I said is a FACT, and it's ridiculous. Decrypter copied Kong, Narnia, Brokeback and a few other movies after years of no updates, while AnyDVD needed updates to handle EASY movies with nothing special for protections. What a joke.

i knew it it had to be the version as it was kinda old. the problem was that this was a hacked version...

NO longer am i going to get cracked versions as the folks at slysoft deserve every single penny! . as we speak i getting 5.9.5.6 yep just updates ... in less then a day ... what a great support and fast too from slysoft.

Jigen : the reason why AnyDVD is an awesome small app is why you update your ver from time to time.... like i said i had 5.7.2.1 and all my dvds store bought over 1,000 dvds never in my life had any problem... SLYSOFT deserves it man.... free lifetime updates.. with a matter of 1 click and in 60 secs new ver everytime... .

I hear you gus, but disagree. The fact is that if it was so great it should be able to analyze these protections and defeat them without updating daily or 3x weekly. EVERY newer release with ARccOS that I tried with the PGCedit plugin for Decrypter has been defeated WITHOUT any need for updating. It's just ridiculous that Slysoft can't create such functionality for AnyDVD, and they expect you to pay.
Also, there are newer movies with the same old protection that's been around for years, and while Decrypter rips right through, AnyDVD needs these updates. Why can't they create a program that's at least equal to an outdated copy of Decrypter, and that doesn't need updates just to wipe it's ass?
The best thing that I can say about AnyDVD is that as long as they keep it updated, it should cut down on the "I can't copy this disc" newb posts.
