AnyDVD's problem is that once you update, you lose access to the older version. And occassionally the updated version does not work as well as the prior version.
If you save your update file on your HDD, or if you do not have enough space on your HDD then use a disk, you will be able to roll back to any prior version by merely uninstalling a reinstalling the older version. I and the people I know that have this program have not had any problems with it, and slysoft usually does not release an update without testing, and if a bug does show up another update is issued within 24 hours. I have not found one movie that does not work with AnyDVD. I also have DVDFab Platinum/Gold and yes it works fine but it too also needs updates to take care of the new encryption. It is all in what a person prefers to back up their files.

plus you can use system restore and you have the earlier version back .. :) omg good thing system restore was made very useful :)

what urks me with AnyDVD is, i updated it, and it wouldnt let me register it with the key that already purchased, so i did sys restore and sent a email to slysoft reporting this!

good you reported this :) just wait for bit of time you get your new key within 24 hrs then you can re download it and put new key :) btw were you on a trial?

weird, do a clean reinstall reboot and try double clicking the keycode that you should have in "My Docments"

If you don't save your key file that is sent to you will have problems when you have to restore/reformat. If you cannot find the file then back it up from the registry. You can do it this way:

The AnyDVD key is stored in the registry here:

'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SlySoft\AnyDVD\Key'

If you are using XP go to your start menu, then run, and type in regedit and the hit ok.

Browse to the above location, highlight 'key' and choose File > Export.

Copy and Save to a floppy, cd/dvd disk or another drive for backup.
