Have downloaded DVD Decrypt. and DVD Shrink. Have not downloaded Nero until I know more.
Currently use Sonic for memory conversion camcorder to dvd. Like it and would like to keep it.
But I have read that Nero conflicts with Sonic upon download etc. If so is there a way to manage both without conflict?
If I do download Nero, would I have to remove Sonic?
Also about Nero, I am interested in only backing DVD's that are have alot of wear. Not interested in the version 7 which has all the TV media options. Would you reccommend version 6?
Also if I download Nero how difficult would it be to burn to dvd?
Thanks

Welcome to aD!
Yes Nero and Sonic can conflict - they both have packet writing software & drivers that don't always play well.
If you only interested in using Nero to back up DVD's that have alot of wear - imo your better off using Decrypter - it handles these type of discs much better than most programs.
Also if they have copy protection - Nero can't do them w/o ripping w/ decrypter 1st or running something like AnyDVD in the background.
For what your want to do if these are somewhat older movies - DVD Decrypter and Shrink should be able to handle them (copy protection wise).
Don't get me wrong I like Nero and use many of the opinions and have for years - not a difficult program but decrypter and shrink will do what you need also. Plus they're both free!
I've got:
Nero/express/burning rom/and recode2
Dvd decrypter
Sonic
Dvd shrink
IMGburn
Copytodvd
Dvdfab decrypter
No conflicts for me!
My dad also has sonic and Nero and none for him either.
I avg a Coaster every 500 burns,and usually it's a playback Coaster.
On that Nero download, just make sure you don't download the INCD4 packets. That's what usually screws peeple up.There should be 2 packets that say INCD-do not download them!
Nero6 or Nero7:
I only use Nero 6. In the main page of the After Dawn opening screen:
You can download Nero 6.6 for free,I believe. No trial?
Today is the last day for that special when I scanned that page over briefly.
Nero6 has trouble with the layer break when using DVD Shrink and burn with Nero. Nero7 is suppose to take care of that issue?
I use DVD Decrypter in Mode ISO read and Mode ISO write for my Dual layer backups.
You'll need Nero burning rom/dvd shrink/dvd decrypter/and something like AnyDVD to help those programs remove the newer releases. Older ones may not be too much of a problem. You may need decrypter once in a while.

Once you get all the settings and targets sets, usually it's easy as pie!
The size of original dvds determines what programs I use:
Majority of mine are rip and compress with DVD Shrink and autoburn with Nero. The problematic new releases,I activate AnyDVD in the background. Once you got it set up,just a 4-5 click process, and you don't even know AnyDVD or Nero is doing anything.
When you click the backup tab in DVD Shrink, make sure your burner's model # is listed, along with a checkmark for Burn with Nero.
It's a great combo, and all those programs are free, with the exception of AnyDVD.
