Trying to backup Disc 3 of this series with DVD Shrink, but as it gets up to 100% it states "Programming error--cannot continue" I tried decrypter first but it gives the same error. I checked the disc it looks and plays fine. Anyone have similar problems?

@uncjeffs
Try ripping with dvdfab decrypter then process those files thru shrink.
Here's a link:

Which ripper did you use? DVDFab Decrypter or DVD Decrypter? Or both?
DVDFab Decrypter should be able to handle this one - it's still updated while DVD Decrypter and shrink are no longer.

If you ripped with DVDFab Decrypter (latest version is 2.9.7.5) you can also try running the files thru vobblanker than opening the files vobblanker processed in Shrink and go from there.

Well shrink is even further outdated than DVD Decrypter :)
Anyhow have you run the files thru vobblanker then tried those in Shrink?
Another combo that will handle anything out there is AnyDVD and CloneDVD - not free but can try for 21 days free.

I used DVD FAB Decrypter to decrypt, and DVD Shrink/Nero to burn...I get good results with Shrink/Nero.

Ran it through VOB Blanker but it still says "Programming error"

So you got it backed up now w/ the dvdfab decrypter/shrink/nero combo?
If you weren't successful - what's the rest of the program error - cannot continue message?

I backed up battlestar 2(season) with just shrink (reauthored to 2 episodes per disc) (shrink 3.2) & Nero 6.3, with no problems,, try cleaning disc w/windex.bob

@binkie...it just says "Programming error--cannot continue"

I'm giving AnyDVD a try to see if that helps!

@Bob...the stupid thing is I actually backed up disc 1 and 2 fine with just DVD Shrink by itself. Maybe you are right, I'll also reclean/recheck the physical disk!

Wish me luck!

I now bow down to the God/Goddess of AnyDVD/Clone DVD...after failing at multiple attempts with my "traditional" method...

I downloaded the free demos and after tinkering a bit, got them to work no problem...meh!!! Now I have to decide if I want to buy 'em or just wait until I have my next problem, then buy 'em...LOL

J

Thanks Binkie!

Phew! Glad you finally got it!!
Yep AnyDVD & CloneDVD is tops - updated frequently to handle anything new. Has yet to let me down.
I still use the other progs to play - but if you want it done fast and right AnyDVD and Clone is the way to go. Well worth the $
(txs for posting your results back!)
