I want to put my home movies onto DVD and give some copies to my friends and family but I don't want disc rot to kill it after a couple years. What brand lasts the longest?

well maybe not extinct but certainly quite scarce, even though they're very new discs...

video_man, don't sweat the fact that Verb-branded TYs are hard to find, since it doesn't matter what the brand is, but who manufactures the discs. Just buy any TYs or any Verbs and you're likely to be OK. Your safest bet is to buy discs advertised as being directly from those two manufacturers (as opposed to trying to find out if your local batch of Fujis are TYs or not). Supermediastore and Rima or Newegg should be your vendors.
