I know someone who is trying to ftp from their computer to their xbox. They have their computer going into a router and the xbox going into the same router. They have the xbox modded and they have the ip from the modded dashboard. They also have the static ip off and changed to DHCP. When they put the ip into flashfxp from the modded dashboard in it won't connect. How to i fix this? Thanks

That didn't work, we are using a router, not a direct connection.

First of all, ur doing a lot of things wrong, u don't use a router for ftp. i had the same problem but i managed to fix it, see if this will help.

1)First, you need a crossover cable.($10)

2)Boot up the xbox, click on "System Configuration" and go to "System Settings" Make sure "Setup Network" is set to yes and "Use Static IP" is set to yes.
Once here change your IP to 192.168.1.5
Make sure that subnetmask is set to 255.255.255.0
Change Default gateway to 192.168.0.1
Make sure the next two are both 0.0.0.0

3)Go on your computer. Go to Start:Settings:Control Panel:Network and Internet Connections:Network Connections
Here, you should see a section that says "Lan or High Speed Internet". Right Click on the picture of two computers in this section that says "Local Area Connections" and then click on properties. Click on the line that reads: "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" so that it is highlighted and then click on properties.
In this box click where it says "Use the following IP address" Fill the boxes in accordingly:
IP address: 192 . 168 . 1 . 4
Subnet mask: 255 . 255 . 255 . 0
Default gateway: 192 . 168. 0 .1
Click OK then click close

4)Now go to your control panel and click "Network and Internet Connections." Click on "Windows Firewall" and select "Off" and then press OK. You should come back later and turn your firewall back on to avoid viruses.

5)Now connect your computer to the xbox with the crossover cable and open Internet Explorer.(NO ROUTER USED IN FTP).

6)Now type in the address bar ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.1.5 and hit enter. It should connect right away.

u dont have to have a crossover cable, i just ftped into my xbox through a router yesterday this is what i did,

1) Checked all the IP's for my computer and Default Gateway, etc.
2) I put 3 straight through cables from xbox to router, modem to router, and router to computer.
3) I went into the FTP settings in the xbox and made sure my IP was about .5 above my original one.( i dont know why that is but it worked)
4) I made sure the DNS(just the first one, u can leave the second one blank) and default gateway where the same as my comp, and just used the IP of the xbox to connect either using flashfxp or smartftp.

This is a example of what i did:
Computer:
(computer IP:) 192.168.1.3
(default gateway)192.168.1.1 (IP of router)
(DNS) 192.168.1.1 (IP of router)
Xbox:
(IP) 192.168.1.10
(Default gateway)192.168.2.1 (IP of router)
(DNS)192.168.2.1 (IP of router)
(name)=xbox
(pass)=xbox

I went to ftp prog. put the IP for xbox in the Server/URL: and put the name and pass. and i connected, its very simple, just a bit confusing here and there. Hope this helps, gl

Hey guys
I'm having a real problem trying to FTP my xbox

I've done everything tat has been said in this forum, and i am able to establish a connection between my xbox and my PC. However when I try to FTP between my PC and the Xbox, I can't seem to connect to it.

I have turend my windows firewall off, but that still hasn't achieved anything. I do have Norton Internet Security Firewall which I have turned off, but that doesn't make a difference either.

Xbox
IP = 192.168.1.5
Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway = 192.168.0.1
Both DNS = 0.0.0.0

PC
IP = 192.168.1.4
Subnetmask = 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway = 192.168.0.1

I am using a direct connection to connect to the xbox and am using FlashFXP as my FTP agent.

there is no problem with your system problem is sometimes you can't FTP from the Evox main screen. Go to Apps and enter either dvd2Xbox or Xbox xplorer and you should be able to connect through Flash FXP then.

not sure if i mentioned this in my tutorial, but u have to enable the LAN connection in step 3. when u do that, turn on the xbox and it should say "Connection Enabled" on the bottom right of ur computer.
