I just bought a 25 pack of verbatims @ BestBuy and ran them through the "DVD Identifier".

They are coming up as "Mitsubishi Chemical Corp." Are they still any good? I thought I read on here that the majority of them were "Taiyo Yuden"?

Well I hope they are still good media. Thanks.

MCC is what you want, those are very good discs. TY is a different brand and they are very good as well. Those are the top 2 brands of discs out there.

@Fleezbyte
Sometimes you can find the Taiyo Verbs (made in Japan) but only in the UK - not the US. Dang!
As grumlenz said both excellent! Only 2 I use.

Ok, thanks guys. Yeah, they are DVD+R 16X Verbatim discs. I just burned the movie "Domino" and am watching it right now.

The movie plays perfectly and looks exactly like the original! This is the only brand I will be using for sure!

Wow! I just saw that 100 year projection deal! I bought a 25 pack for $19.99 but well worth it I'm sure. I burned at 4X speed to make sure there are no errors. Is that ok?

1/2 the speed on the disc is recommended,
So on 16x disks 8x should be suffiecent,
But if you have the extra time to burn at 4x speed,
It couldnt hurt.

Also I would recommend bookytping those DVD+R if possible.

Fleezbyte: You paid too much for that 25 pk.You got hosed.

Keep an eye here in the DVD-R media for weekly sales. I didn't see any single layer verbs on sale this week, But Best Buy/ Office Max/and Office depot have some great sales on them. I'll bet they are on sale next week in at least 2 of those chain stores I listed.

$15 a 50 pk max!!!

What's your brand name and model# of your DVD-RW drive/s?

Verbatim designs these discs to perform best at the 16x speed,in 16x writers. I go 8x and 12x on them. The slower 2.4x and 4x gives me more crc errors. Benqs love to burn these at 8x and above.

I normally get these locally at my Best buy for 19.99 a 50pk.
They Code as MCC003 and have never given me a problem.

Pat yourself on the back you paid a little too much,
but got a great product in return.

My DVD drive is a Dynex. The model is something like DVD-DR16W. I could'nt find any Verabatims on sale today so I had no choice and I really wanted/needed them today as I had to many movies on my hard drive and could'nt hold anymore and had to return the movies.

If I do see a sale this weekend, I'll still go out and buy some more just to make sure I have an extra supply.

@Binkie7,
What's up bud? Thanks for that, I did'nt know that's what those were. I saw them and was considering them as a matter of fact. I think I did read the label, and they said made in Taiwan however.

I'd pass on the Made in Taiwan Fuji's. I usually buy TY & Verb online but when I do buy instore - for my area at least - the made in Japan are usually only the +r's.
It also doesn't look like your drive can booktype.

Thanks.
