i was looking on websites for some good deals on media and i came across this brand of media and was wondering if any of you have ever heard of it, or used it, "Bulkpaq"
sorry, "bulkpaq" blank dvds are fairly low on the totem pole of media...they are known for carrying FAKE Taiyo Yudens on some of their 8x media and use pretty poor manufacturers on their other discs...
i would not recommend them to you personally...regardless of how good the price may be...
Taiyo Yuden 4x dvd-r TYGO1/ 8x dvd-r TYGO2/ 8x dvd+r YUDEN000T02/ 16x dvd+r YUDEN000T03
Verbatim 8x dvd+r MCC003
Verbatim dvd+r DL (MKM001)= flawless no compression backups

hey, kivory, i noticed in your signature you recommend using this Taiyo Yuden 4x DVD-R TYGO1, where can i find those at? what is a good website to go and look for DVD-R?
well, now that really depends on where in the world you are? if in the U.S. (as i'm here in the states), best places online to look for quality media would be:
1. supermediastore.com
2. meritline.com
3. rima.com
these 3 sell genuine Taiyo Yudens if that is what you are looking for, but in terms of receiving the 4x dvd-r TYG01s, it is NEARLY impossible to find them available anymore...for example, here, even though supermediastore lists them as "4x dvd-r", chances are, 99%+ you will either get the TYG02 or TYG03 (8x and 16x rated dvd-r respectively) :)
if you notice the description, it lists the MID coding as "TYG02", but there have been reports of people receiving the TYG03 under the user comments/ "customer reviews" box underneath~ :)
either way, bottom line is...you will be VERY lucky to find the TYG01s at this point, they stopped making them awhile back and unless you ordered them about a year ago, you will not get them nowadays...i had personally purchased thousands of them before and i found the TYG01s to be VERY good quality TYs :)
if you live in Europe, i believe svp is a highly trusted online retailer over there in the UK
their prices for genuine Taiyo Yudens are pretty high, as found here, but then again...only 8x and 16x variety are found, no more 4x~ :) from what creaky (moderator) has told me, seems like the Verbatim TYs (TYG02) are very scarce or out of stock, but they were manufactured by TY under the Verbatim label/brand and were cheaper than authentic non-branded TYs~

i appreciate the info, just for the record, i live in the states as well. i was looking at supermedia.com, pretty good selection. pretty good prices. i just ordered a 200 pack of Verbatims. i have had real good luck with them, so what the hell, why spool a good thing.
my sentiments exactly, Verbatim's own MCC coded media is my 2nd favorite media, as noted in my sig as well~ :) why spoil a good thing as you say? nothing wrong with that...just giving you a few more "options" to consider once you run out...both excellent choices and i highly recommend them both~ :)
