I have been using dvddecrypter and dvdshrink successfully for months. Both are set to default settings. Last night I tried to make copies of Walk the Line and Fleetwood Mac The Dance. I have copied both in the past. With decrypter the while decrypting the disc the process takes much longer. When I go to burn with shrink, in the video screen the image is jerky sometimes and moves fast at other times. During the burn process, on the last step, it will freeze at different percentage of the burn process. I have had to cancel the process and the disc is very warm. Please help. Thanks

Are you copying from originals or copies? What media do you use, burn speed etc.?

copying from originals. What do you mean by media. Both programs are set to default and have worked fine for months. I don't set a burn speed.

Probably a heat related problem. Chech that your CPU's cooling fan is not obstructed (by dust, etc...) and spins freely, also check your power supply's fan and any others you may have. If you have a utility (usually supplied my the mobo manufacturer) to check the CPU core temp, make sure it isn't getting too hot. DVDshrink is an especially CPU intensive app.

Your burning too fast, shrink is ok with it's default settings, but decrypter by default is set to burn at MAX speed which is not good. You might be ok for a while, but it's only a matter of time before the MAX speed setting starts giving you problems like burn failures especially when poor media is used. When decrypter pops up and asks for blank media, change the write speed to 4x (usually as a rule, try not to burn any faster that 1/2 the rated speed of the media). As far as media is concerned, try Verbatim disks.

Your drive maybe heavily fragmented or running low on space. Get rid of any files you don't need any more so as to regain as much space as possible, when done defragment your drive, the defragger that comes with the OS should be good enough.

And to answer the question, media refers to the disc's manufacturer, like sony, verbatim, taiyo yuden, fuji etc.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie
