I purchased a 50pc cake box of these and they coded out as Ritek P16
Does anyone have any experience with this media code yet? I have not had the opportunity to burn with any to date, but as soon as I do I will post the quality scan that I get.

Thanks for the reply. I eyeballed several of them and could see no perceptible flaws in the discs. Will be trying them out this week.

I've been 94 out of 100 on the OD +16x Ricohjpn-r03.
6 bad ones in a row in one spindle.3 of them burn Coaster,and the other 3 I found when looking at the bottom of those discs. Looked like some sort of water spot inbetween the layers. Ok after I got out of that sector of that spindle.Only a bad batch. These were 20 cents each when I bought them.
I haven't heard of Ritek-p16,but they should be pretty decent.

Do the RitekP16 still have that beautiful dark purple dye? The only +R 16x Ritek discs that I've gotten were RitekR04 .. I wonder what the difference is?

@Catfreak
Yes, the discs have a rich deep purple dye. I will probably burn one tonight or tomorrow. I will post a pix of the scan so that you can see what transpired as well at the media code.
Have a great day.

saugmon- Only Deffective Dvd media I ever had anything like that was a Fuji /Taiyo yuden 8x disc had a discoloerd spot & what looked like a piece of crud emmbedded in the disc rim/ outer edge did'nt notice till tried burning it and the movie was all wonky ! That started me examining the read side of every dvd blank pre- burn for anomalies - = Deffects as it were ! I guess you can get a clinker in any brand of any technology so I don't hold that against either Fuji or taiyo yuden for that matter ! Hey tech has improved since Started fooling with Audio/video & computers - 8 Tracks 40 to 50% failure -error rate - Cassettes ( Audio about 3% failuer rate !) DVDR media - Had one baddy in a couple of hundred ! I can live with that ! Happy Burning & Varmint Dancin'!

Burned a couple of these yesterday with less than stellar results.
Here is the media code:
Here is my first 8x burn:
The second 8x burn:
And finally a 6x burn:
Of interest to me is the absolute crap that develops at the end of the burn towards the outer edge of the disc. The 6x showed slight improvement.
I will be slowing down to 4x with this media tonight to see if that will improve the quality of the burn/scan.
Makes me appreciate the consistancy of Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim. I will probably not buy anything else in the future. May cost a bit more, but it definately is worth it.
I will post the 4x's of this P16 media after I get them done.
Cheers and Taiyo and Verbatim ROCK!

I'm gonna do a couple 4x tonight, and scan them at a slower speed as well to see if that will make a difference. I scanned at 8x and at max, I wonder if that skews the results any.

@Saugmon, I agree they suck.
Here is a better scan at 4x from my LG4163B
I will do another tonigh at 4x on the NEC and see if it makes any difference or if speed of burn is the culprit.

Maybe it's so new that your NEC firmware isn't recognizing them yet ... maybe I'll get some and SolidBurn 'em with my BenQ ...
