I just bought a new v14 Slimline(SCPH-75001)after my V12 laser died out. I'm got to put in Tool C for the slimtool an I see that there is a piece of metal blocing the space where the tool goes. Can someone tell me if the Magic Switch v3 will work with it without having to open up the system.

Magic Switch 3 has two things you can use for the lid sensor inside the Version 14. One requires opening it up(Tool D), but one fits in that little hole between the plate and the clip near the hinge(Tool E).

My console collection: Version 14A PlayStation 2(chipped), Version 7 PlayStation 2, PlayStation(both models), Wii, Gamecube, N64, Super NES(original from US and Japan and Mini), NES(front and top loader)Model 1 & 2 Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X, Atari 2600, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Sega Master System(Model 1 and 2), Atari Flashback 1 & 2, FC Twin(2 in 1 NES/Super NES clone), GN Twin(2 in 1 NES/Genesis clone), Atari 7800, Intellivision II, TurboGrafx 16, GameBoy Color

Ace_2, can you confirm if Magic Switch v3 works on your V14?

I have made my own MOD to use on my Version 14(put in place), so I can't say anything about it. But, I think you should stay clear of Magic Switch 3 as Tool D will void your warranty(which you don't want), and if Tool E is placed improperly, it will short-circuit, I repeat, it will short-circuit you PlayStation 2 since it's made of steel. What I did is MUCH safer since there is no risk of shorting the PlayStation 2. The link is in my signature, but it won't be easy to do as I have no pictures of the MOD. I'm telling you, it works just as good as the tools you buy off the Internet(only good for Version 13 and 14). Plus, it's free(unless you're missing some of the required materials).
