I have been regularly using SONY and FUJI blank dvds for the last few years with no problem.. I always Purchase DVD+R 16x blank dvds.........Well, as of 2 or 3 weeks ago, Anytime I use a Fuji DVD, they are burning at 4x or something like that, when i normally burn at 16x.. Fuji just recently changed their packaging a bit (to a silver label instead of blue).......I can still use Sony, Verbatim, or TDK's and burn at 16x without any trouble.. I was able to get some old Fuji blanks that were DVD+R 16x's also which were in cases with the old blue label, and those burned ok......i think fuji changed the formatting of their dvds..i spoke with them yesterday on the phoen about this. they dont have any idea y this is happening. and plus Best Buy is having a sale on em this week $100 for 29.99, so i bought some tonight and was gonna see if i can get em workin ok again.. I already tried updating my firmware. That didnt help.. My drives are in DMA mode...so hopefully someone here can help me out..

I have a Pioneer DVR -108 .. works great with every other brand still..

Thanks.

They say they are X16 DVD's?

It could be possible as well that a diffrent manufacture made the media. Maybe they are cheaper or your drive just doesnt like how they are made.

yeap! they say 16x's.. I still say that Fuji Changed more than just the packaging.. they said they havent received any other calls like that yet.. but the tech gave me a phone # today to call him tomorrow and wanted me to go get these new ones and save one of the old ones (from the old packaging) to see why this is happening.. dunno what he can do that i havent thought of already..

I don't normally buy Fuji(hard to find MIJ/ TY's), but do look at the packaging when in FutureShop (a BestBuy subsiduary). The BLUE labels have always indicated 8X, SILVER 16X.

Apparently 16x is now made by either Prodisc, Ritek, or Philips.
