1. I got DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. I forgot which one does what. Shrink takes a copyrighted DVD (assuming I have permission to do this) and shrinks it down to a 4.7 right. And Decrypt.. removes the copyright? Is that correct?

Which one do I do first.

2. Let's say for arguments sake I got a program. Maybe Spysweeper, or Maybe Nero and I wanted a copy (and again, I had some type of permission) and needed to make a copy. I cannot copy and paste because of copyrights. I can make a copy of the disk first using cd clone, or dvd clone, ? ;which one. then decrypt it. Or decrypt it first to a file then burn to a disk?

Would I be using dvd's or cd's. These program names are mentioned only so you are familiar with them. They are other files.

To copy commercial DVDs, you would use Shrink to first compress and rip the DVD to your HDD. With Decryptor, you can use it to burn. There are others who like to rip the entire disc to the HDD first with Decryptor, then run it through Shrink to compress, and then burn with whatever.

I rip/compress with Shrink first and burn with Decryptor. But of course, I always have AnyDVD running in the background.

As for your programs, I'm assuming just a regular ol' CD will suffice and that you wouldn't even need any decryptors. I dunno, I haven't copied a software CD in the longest.

*Edit* And yes, I agree, you're all over the place with this post. If I had to grade this, I'd give you a failing grade :(

man your all over the place on this one.How about you collect your thoughts and have another go..............

or better yet

Put your disc in the drive and use shrink. It can compress your dvd down to a 4.7 gig disc as well as rip(but it isnt upgraded anymore). But for a better way maybe you should look at CloneDVD and slysofts Anydvd(which can bypass most encryptions)

Are you wanting to copy a program disc, or a playable dvd?

I do appreciate your responses. And while I see a lot of jerks on forums, I am not one of them.

I feel I was quite clear, but if you did not understand I am sorry. I phrased my question in the form of 2, clearly labeled 1 and 2

While the first two said I was all over the place, telling me in an informative way how I went from one topic to another and back to the first and then to another, etc... would be helpful.

And to JXP.. Thank you too for continuing to offer to help, and you did give the most clearly put need for me to give you to help, HOWEVER, the first line of number 2 says "let's say I have a PROGRAM..."

So on with the post..

It is a PROGRAM that I want to copy. I did not know if programs were considered cd's or dvd's or if it is not the content that matters but simply the "thing" it is put on.

And lastly, while I will google this, I may as well post while I am here, what is AnyDVD and why do you have it running when copying anything.

this program you have , does it do anything special. If not then its very easy to just use nero or any other burning application and burn it as data.Yopu can do this to either cd or dvd

Anydvd by slysoft is a tool which will allow you to circumvent the copy encryptions which are inherent on most commercially made dvds .With out it running in the background you will not be able to made duplications of your discs that you wish to .

Simply the program you are using for example clonedvd will say that it cant copy copy protected discs

Thank You.

So With AnyDVD, you don't need to decrypt with anything like DVD Decryptor, is that correct or not?

I just downloaded it and it appears that it can also decrypt; or does it just avoid the step.

ANydvd will aloow you to bypass the copy protections and allow your program to copy the disc, you can also change the region so if you are region 1 you can play other region discs 2,3,4,5,6,as well

Thank You.

I apologize to anyone who did not understand my original post.

I will try to do what all suggested...need to get some cd's then..I don'thave any. I think there is one thing not 100 percent answered, most programs are cds right. Nero program 'cd' is a 'cd' like I said right?

I am eventually getting around to burning this disk. I am using DVD Shrink now. I had AnyDVD open just for sh__s and giggles, but it would not work. Neither would DVD Decryptor with that open

Maybe I changed a setting? don't know I closed it it is working now

wow. easy. I used DVD Shrink on this movie. I must have had some setting set, or it just never used it because I just got the program, but it automatically went into using Nero. But it skipped the step of DVD Decryptor. I am lost now. It is burning tho. Will it play? Did it decrypt? Rhetorical questions or answer them if you know...but I will shortly find out

UNBELIEVABLE> it burned, even tho at the end I got copyright error. and it went into Nero bypassing DVD Decryptor. You, or someone, must know something I don't.

you dont have to use Nero to burn, it can be one of a myriad of programs.Decrypter is one of these.Even though you got the error at the end did your disc work

I would highly recommend downloading one of the guide for 321 shrink. After Dawn has or had a good one and there are guide for decrypter. The guides take you step by step on how to burn and gives you the various additional features. As for any DVD (slyFox) it runs in the background while your reading and writing your DVD. I use all 3 and they are a great combination.

The reason I mention the guides is because that is how I learned, and still use for reference if needed.
Good luck

thank you. I most certainly will read it. but somehow i got thru it, got thru the decryption process, without even needing dvd decryptor . And I didn't have AnyDVD open. It said there were copyright errors. when i turned off Shrink worked WOW. But Any DVD did say not copyrighted. But at the end of Shrink when all was said and done, i did get a message saying it had a copyright/ Weird... thanks again
