On my SCPH-7xxxx Slim PS2 Console, and no, not backups. It just packed in, freezing in the middle of playing Virtua Tennis 2 (Burple CD Game) and now ALL and EVERYTHING ends up with it playing up making a clicking noise, (Sounds like its SCRATCHING THE DISK(!) I opened up and to know avail (my warrenty expire anyway). I will post you gallery and Sound clips, HELP!

Plus, I've conquered my fear of opening up, so if i fix, i want to play me backups..

have you tried adjusting the laser?
That would be the only other thing besides cleaning it i would suggest people try before just having it repaired by a pro.

i would look on the net, there is sure to be a guide somewhere.
I have only adjusted the older models as well.
