Hi I live in canada. Has anyone ever heard of this vaskoss disks? Who makes them? Are they any good

No my friend don't think we have'em staeside ? Are they Branded ( like maxell or Sony retail) or are they more like the Generic on-line retailers sell ? also if you can Check where they are made ? that says a lot! Made in taiwan = Equals Crap like CMC & memorex ! unless the Made in Taiwan Media is VERBATIM or Ritek /Maxell and Perhaps Ricohjpn Media (RICOH) IF it's made in JAPAN like Taiyo Yuden ! or Made in japan Sony & FUJI same thing as Taiyo Yuden makes or has made media in Japan for both ! Some of the SONY 8xDVD-R media will code the same as the 8X DVD-R made in taiwan sony Which is good media too But get the Made in japan 's if you can? Maxell /Hitachi makes Made in Japan media too which is also excellent! avoid Media made in Hong Kong if you find it it's crap ! Also you can buy like a couple of the disc you mentioned and run them through DVD Identifier and this will tell you the true Manufacturer as opposed to the Branded name ! Okay heres the short list!

1. Made in taiwan media ( VERBATIM # 1. Riteks , # 2. Ricoh #3. ,=Sony #4. ) avoid anything else Made in taiwan!
2. Made in Japan Media ( Taiyo Yuden #1. - whether they are Taiyo yuden own media or dvd's they Oem'ed for Sony /Fuji ect . Good stuff!
Maxell /hitachi Made in japan media = hitachi is maxells parent company ( Owns it) and the Maxell made in japan media is excellent as well!

3. Made in Hong Kong ( WRONG !!! walk away )

4. Made in india ( Mosa Baer ) made media ? have'nt ever used any so can't yeah or NeY ! ( some Verbatims may be made in India and are supposedto be good from what others have said !

5. Made in Singapore ( Verbatim DVD+R DL media ) Singapore is where some Verbatim Dvd single layer media used to be made awhile back ! now Verbatim only makes DVD+R DL media there (Excellent!)

6. Malaysia ? Some JVC brand dvd media is made there & I have'nt used that or any Malaysia made media so I can't give you a quality rating But I would'nt use it !

For what its worth, I've got some Vakoss, they're not too horible, but I wouldn't use them for anything I really want to have last. Mine scan as Prodisc-R03-03, bought for me from Best Buy.
