my ps2 is old and it sucks, i need some help to clarify these issues, first it cannot read CD-Rs or DVD9's but it can read dvd5, when i put in a dvd5 disc it will spin around about 4-6 slow cycles and stop, but on screen it will say reading disc, about 1-2 mintues later it starts to read the disc, it loads up games slower than avg.,is this a laser problem? and i use swap magic with this ps2. thx in advance.

very well could be a laser problem.
The first step would be to clean it.
Then next would be to try adjusting it
after that if neither works i would just have it fixed.

Had a 2003 SE-R myself a few years back, slightly modded of course, got too many tickets and had to trade it for my Mazda 6S
