i got a xbox softmod done a while ago, it worked fine untill i turned parental control on, then when i reset my xbox, it would just stay on the big "X". i tried putting movies, games, music cds, and ps2 games, anything to try to get it to show "cannot read dist" error. I took my xbox apart and the HDD is spinning,, is there anyway to fix this??

Then you will have a hard time to fix it. Hotswap will let you reinstall msdash or to fix anything on xbox hdd. So go to my page by following the link in my sig. and download Original msdash. Then follow this tutor

okay i downloaded the FatXExplorer, and i got the Xbox HDD out of the box and plugged it in, but the FatX wouldnt detect the HDD. so i read the read me and it said that a problem might be because i have no F:\ drive... do i need an F:\ drive?

i downloaded Xplorer and FatXexplorer, and they both told me the same thing, no Xbox HDD, but i did connect it, turn the xbox on, i did eveything that you told me to do, but it still doesnt seem to be working, what else is there to do?

which windows do you have? how do you connect?
Here is some tips
- YOu need windows XP or 2000.
- download and install xplorer360 on pc.
- connect PC hdd to primary IDE.
- the secondary IDE is just for xbox hdd. So IDE cable is free now.
- turn on pc, and hit the Break/Pause key.
- turn on xbox, and wait untill the microsoft logo appears. Quickly remove IDE cable from xbox and connect the one from pc to it.
- press anykey on keyboard so pc continue to booot
- Open xplorer360. you should see 5 partiotions on xbox hdd

When turn on PC, and hit the Break key after 1 sec to stop biosl loading. At this time the computer did not scan for HDD yet.

yeah i did that, but it still says that it doesnt read any XboxHDD, FatXexplorer says i need an F:\ drive(?),, and Xplorer360 says "could not find a FatX drive to open".

Do not remove IDE cable from xbox hdd untill you see microsoft logo appear under XBOX. if you remove to early, the xbox hdd is not unlock yet.

when you connect xbox hdd to pc, then hit a Space key to continue to boot pc. It should boot like normal.

bios loads, but the windows loading screen takes forever, sometimes the computer restets itself, is that normal?
