Boot computer by itself, dont connect to xbox hdd. does it boot to windows normally?

ok how do you connect drives in pc?

yeah, i did what you told me to, unplug the secondary IDE from the PC HDD, and plug the primary one into it,, unless im getting them mixed up(im not the master of electronics)

Primary IDE connects to PC hdd and 1 DVD drive (optional)
Secondary IDE ONLY connects to xbox hdd. NO DVD drive. Make sure xbox hdd jumper set to master or Cable Select.

well now i know what i was doing wrong, so where do i find the seconday IDE? should i disconnect the IDE from the cd player, or do i find it someplace else?

Look on PC motherboard. The IDE cable connects to pc hdd and connects to motherboard. That IDE port is Primary IDE.
The other IDE port is Secondary. It is just next to the Primary IDE

umm before i start all this, is there anything else i need to download other than FatX or Xplorer360? or do i have to change any settings once i get Xplorer running?

when you can access to xbox hdd, back up everything to PC first before doing anything.

well this sucks,, my HDD on my PC doesnt have enough space to backup the files..
i know that my problem might be the parental control, can i change it while in Xplorer360?

tybro: so you bought a new larger drive for your PC and it is no longer booting up?
Did you go through the settings TheReturn spoke of before to make sure your drive is set to say Cable Select and not master or slave?

no, its to backup my files from xbox HDD to new pcHDD, i have one already installed but there is not enough memory to back all the files up, so i bought a new larger one to do that, but im not sure how to get them on the new one

well the guy at the rapair shop said to connect it via secondary IDE, but thats the IDE im using to connect my xbox HDD to to use xplorer360, and i noticed there were two male connectors on each IDE so i tried the second male on the primary IDE (the one farthest from the motherboard) but the computer wouldnt even boot,. so now what?

dude this sounds like the exact same problem you had before and the solution will most likely be the exact same thing you had to do before.
what is the jumpers set at on your hard drive new hard drive?
Change the jumpers on the new hard drive to CABLE SELECT and make sure your MAIN hard drive is set to MASTER.
