PAPISTAN,
If you are in the US go to BestBuy and buy the brand Verbatim. The good brands are Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Sony( Made in Japan) Maxell.
If you can find any of those then buy a small amount to make sure it is compatible w/ the burner

Lets clear things up, you are able to purchase the following discs.
1. DVD+R
2. DVD+RW
3. DVD-R
4. DVD-RW

So when it asks for a -disc you can choose -R or -RW
a +Disc you choose either +R or + RW All these discs are available anywhere discs are sold.

We need to know the model numbers too...

Right click on "my computer" left click on "properties" left click on "hardware" left click on "device manager" then left click on the "+" sign by DVD/CD-ROM drives.

I was able to locate a DigitalMax DRW-3S163. Is this your burner? It's the only one I could find made by that company.

According to this thread (http://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=890&Search=Sear...), this burner is a rebadged lite-on 1653s.

There are instructions to cross flash this drive in the thread, but make sure this is your drive before you attempt to do anything! Also cross-flashing your drive will void the warranty and could result in a damaged burner should an error or power failure occur during the flash process.

The OEM Website does not load. Did they go out of business?

http://www.godigitalmax.com

This burner supports the following:

48xCDR
24xCDRW
8xDVD-R
4xDVD-RW
16xDVD+R
4xDVD+RW
2.4xDVD+RDL

Buy some good Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DVD+ media and you should be good. They use Advanced AZO dye and will last a long time. Buy one at first to make sure. Avoid junk media like Memorex, TDK, etc.

And it was mentioned before, but I will mention it again. Using all caps is like screaming in a conversation. It's best not to use all caps unless you want to scream something...

This guy's not for real. No one is that stupid AND can burn a cd. Since he is having no trouble burning cds, he knows the difference between CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Can't find DVDs at any store. You think he might have asked someone after 2 stores? Anyone asking about a firmware upgrade for a drive knows difference between +DVDR/RW and -DVDR/RW

PAPISTAN,
The encryption is removed when you use DVDFAB Decrypter. The encryption was added by the studios to make backing up the movie a little harder for us to do. Below is a guide that you can use as it explains pretty well how to use DVDFAB Decrypter and Shrink and then you can burn the DVD you made w/ DVDDecrypter. This is all freeware so you will have to purchase nothing

Papistan,
Not to throw a wrench in to the info but if you get a movie that you can not do that movie might be one of the newer encrypted ones. To do those movies you will need this guide done by one of the members here.

Alkohol's Guide: http://www.k-probe.com/backup-newly-release-DVD-DVDFAB-Decrypter-...

You can substitute Shrink for Recode. This is just info that you might need so I want you to look at it and be aware
