I downloaded a movie in XVid format. It looks great but I don't know how to output it to disc. It won't burn to DVD obviously. I tried burning to VCD but the file is too long at 900mb. Any suggestions?

I'm just about to check this out w/ Nero SVCD encoding...8 Mile [XviD] is the project.
I have a CD Burner that can over-burn & handles 99min CD's but I've had to uninstall it due to wanting a DVD-Rom installed aswell & IDE Cable not being able to handle anymore hardware (until updating is done)

Pioneer 104 DVD-RW
Lite-On 165H DVD-Rom

Does your hardware allow either 90/99min CD-R ?

Generally the idea with vcd is to split the files with tmpgenc or something for 2 cd's, ahve you tried that??

Perhaps the software is resusing because it cant understand the weirdly compressed audio that comes with most xvid and divx files??

hehe

more than likely , i've read all the 'UPSIDE DOWN' threads and so on...

It's a shame it's so hard to encode some XviD's cos they are really good quality video/audio

I was gonna make it a project & make sure I got to the bottom of it but...I can't be arsed anymore (too much like hard work)

I have a TV Out on my TV Card so isn't really a nightmare : P

Cheers anyway Dela

Yep no problem, the ono thing i will say is decompress the audio of a (non ac3) xvid before encoding it!!

I have recompressed xvid video. I had to make sure I had the most recent DivX files and I installed Vidomi. Which is a xvid player with it's codecs. I then was able to encode it to mpeg2 DVD NTSC with either Canopus Procoder, or Ulead Multimedia Studio <video Editor> 7. I have had no problems in that field. Hope that helps

Ulead Media Studio 6 should work fine. But Lately with some of the newer newer movies.. I haven't been as good of results. But I have been doing a few things different. <different sound adjustments and such>

A little learned, sometimes to late.
