You can listen to streaming podcasts using the RSS feature on FW 2.6. Find out more about this feature here: http://www.playstation.com/manual/psp/rss/en/start.html
But I don't recommend upgrading your PSP and sacrificing homebrew for that though.
You can not play games on the internet yet, but with new firmware updates Sony plan to allow you to download PS1 games, and use the browser to play flash games online. But you'll have to wait a while.

You could use PSPradio its a homebrew program that streams stations from the net.
Another alternative is the PSPWifiJukebox which you stream from your home computer

If you have a 1.5 you just get the pspradio program
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/232 and put it in your PSP\GAME folder.
If your on 2.0+ then youll need the Eloader "super bock" and the GTA umd then youll use the loader to start the PSPradio program.

If you want to use your PSP, just set up your network connection and use the network update button. That is a alot easier (but you need a wireless router).
