What is a swap magic for ps2. I hear alot of people talking abnout it but I don''t know what it is

It is a disc that allows you to boot burned games. Without Swap Magic or a modchip if you burned a PS2 game and tried to play it with your PS2 it just isn't possible. Well Swap Magic makes it possible. When you load Swap Magic with your PS2 it gives you a chance to then swap the Swap Magic disc with your burned game so that the PS2 will then be able to load your burned game. Hope this helped.

that is a fine discription, and let me just add this.
Swap Magic alone will not let you play back up (burned copies) of your PS2 games. There is one other mod you will need like a slidecard, fliptop case, magic switch or other depending on which modle you have.

Swap Magic is needed because when you back up a game, there is an area of the disc called the BCA (burst cutting area) that your PC DVD burner can just not copy. because the PS2 games are pressed discs, unlike movies that are burned information, they will not play without something to fool the PS2 into thinking it is an original.

Note that if you do not have a PS2 fatty, the big PS2 not the slim PS2, and all you have IS the SLIM PS2 then there is a different method to swap your Swap Magic disc with your burned disc, since the SLim version doesn't have the eject disc tray. For the PS2 SLim you will need to either get a flip top case or get some things called the magic switch. You can find a lot of info. about Swap Magic here:

Well I don't personally have a modchip but I've read that you can do a whole lot more with a modchip. I'm sure if Steimy posts he will have a lot more info. to offer you. Lates.

mod chip hands down is better than swap magic for so many reasons i will not take time to list them all.
But is you get one, spend the money and get a good one.
DMS4 Pro, DMS4 Pro SE, Matrix Infinity
you just can't go wrong with those. And if you do not know how to solder REALLY GOOD then have a pro do it
