I am using DVD Shrink. Tried to burn Constant Gardener & Crash. Only burning the main movie track. Plays on my dvd player but skips often. What's the problem? I took reader's advice and switched from Memorex to Verbatim. I am so fustrated. Spending so much money on media. Someone please help!

The verbatims are good but player's can be picky with media.
Now what's the burn speed and is your drive's firmware up to date?

Burn speed is slow @ 4X. Please elaborate on what firmware is and what it does!

Thanks!

Simple explanation is it teaches your drive read/write strategies of media esp. newer media. It can also somtimes unlock features to your drive.
So post the make, model and firmware version of your drive. I'm thinking since your using Shrink you are burning w/ Nero. In Nero go to Toolkit>Info tool for this info:

How old is your DVD player. Many older DVD players as recent as two years ago were not built to play DVD-R or +R. These DVD players also malfunction while playing the original disc freezing and skipping, bouncing back to previous chapters. If you are taking up the hobby of backing up your original disc to 4.7GB disc then it is my strong suggestion that you purchase new DVD players manufactured within the last 12 to 15 months. You will notice be it your expensive models or cheaper models the -R/+R symbols are listed as format functions which were not present just couple of years ago.:P

Players can be picky. I have ones several yrs. old that will play any -r w/o a problem. It's finding what combo works best for your set up. Good media, not burning at max speed (usually) and keeping the drives firmware up to date can reduce the chances of playback issues. Another option is booktyping a +r but for this you need a drive that supports booktyping.
While your drive is older it may not be the problem. If the player is older or used alot another option is to use a lens cleaner.
For your drives firmware here's 2 links to check out:
