I downloaded a region 2 iso. I want to know if it'll play on my region 1 DVD player.

When people rip their movies, in general, is the region of the movie kept?

If so, is there a way I could get rid of it?

Run the ISO through DVDShrink. If it still has region coding it will tell you and you can make it region free easily.
