Hi everyone,

Has anyone come across this issue:

Item in question: Datel's Max Memory 64mb card.

Known issue: I reformated my 64MB card, but it now shows 32MB of memory available.

I used the AR Max Memory Manager software on the disk to format.

Their website states: "This is a known issue with Action Replay MAX versions earlier than 3.35 and 3.36. Contact our technical support for help on this issue".

(They want me to mail them the card so that they can format it back to 64mb)

I would like to know if there is a way instead on my side to reformat it back to 64mb.

Any help guys, and thanks!

I have the same problem (didn't realize it until I read your post). I have a DMS4 Pro installed so I'm going to use a memory card killer to try to reformat the 64MB card myself to see if I get it back. I'll keep you posted.

Hey,

Just to let you know, I have already tried reformating it back to a 64mb - the PS2 reads it as 64mb, you can save, transfer, etc via the Ps2 browser, however, only the AR Max software itself cannot save/transfer etc.

Go figure - the actual program cant recognize it unless it formats it to a 32mb!

Stupid Retarded company I say! Datel, ha!

I contacted Datel, they want me to send them the card so that "they" can format it. Retards!

I told them to instead exchange my 64mb card for two 32mb cards.
Lets see waht they say...

I'll keep ya posted.

Good luck.

Here's the funny thing, after I formatted it myself (using the MC Killer elf), the card now registers that it has 128MB, not 64!!! So I'm going to play with it this weekend to see if it's truely 128MB (can't be but maybe??) or just a 2-1 compression ratio that they have. I'll let you know.

Petey999: Just wondering if you could update us on the status of your card after formatting with mc killer.

Hi guys,

I used the ELF file MCFORMAT

The AR Max showed it as a red color card (unreadable) - I then used AR Max to format it to a readable 32mb.

I then reformated it back to 64mb (from 32mb) using the MCFORMAT.ELF.

Now I can use it - but some games like (MGS3 Sub), however, AR Max will not be able to read it.

You don't need to format the card in the first place, but I did it because AR Max couldn't read it - that is when I formated it and then the problems began....

Agreed - I've had no problem since formatting it but it's funny, the card is still saying that has a total of 128Mb of memory.

Datel contacted me,

they stated that AR Max v3.36 will format the cards to their fullest potential.

Does anyone have this version of AR Max???

If so, please let me know.

Thanks!!!

I've got a version that's newer than 3.34, but I don't know exactly what version it is. I've an orignal 3.34 and the backup I've got has newer file dates and files sizes have changed. It should work as Datel says versions "older" than 3.35 and 3.36 are the problem ones.

BTW, the version number is printed on the reverse sode of an AR original disc near the hub. I'm not sure of any other way to find out what version the software actually is.

If I can be of any help, let me know

I opened up the ELF file of my backup of AR Max with a hex editor and it appears that it is indeed version 3.36

The AR Max v3.36 recognizes and formats the 64mb Max Memory card correctly.

Everything is fine!

Thanks for the help sandpir8.
