I am not familiar with movie. But Shrink is not updated anymore and you probably encountered copy protection. You need a program that will break the encryptions like free DVDFab Decrypter or Free 21 day trial AnyDVD full program, works with all programs.
http://www.dvdidle.com/free.htm for DVDFab
http://www.slysoft.com/en/ AnyDVD

lmac222,
You will probably need to rip the DVD to HD using AnyDVD as they have included FixVTS in the ripper part. Right click fox head in task bar and go to "Rip DVD-Video to Harddisk"

im using that guide and its going great, till i read the word in step 8 or somewhere around there where it says the part it used shrink? all i did was right click the fox head on AnyDVD and ripped to the hdd. Do i have to run it thru shrink now? if so how do i go about doing that. At the bottom it shows that the data is way to big to fit on a 4.7 gb dvd. Got everything going though, got the right version of Nero and everything just need to shrink it somehow
thanks in advance

open Shrink and click on open file and highlight it. It's the ripped file that AnyDVD did. You should know where the file is. The link is for after Shrink has shrunk the file to fit the 4.7GB dsic. You'll recode the disc with Shrink and burn the files in the linked guide for Nero burning rom.

If you have the whole Nero suite, try opening the files in NeroRecode and recode and them there. They burn automatically with Nero after.
edit: anyDVD is up to 5.9.5.7 now
also try opening the video_TS folder

In Shrink, use open File button. With its navigator find the video_ts folder and then hit the select button (maybe called open, I forget). Do not try to open subfiles of the Video_TS folder - Shrink opens the whole shebang from the Video_TS folder level.
I used either DVDFab or Decrypter and then Shrink when I did this DVD a few months back. Principle should be the same using Any DVD.

What is the movie? Does the disc looked damaged. Are you trying to open the same original file? If so delete it and rerip it with AnyDVD and DVD Decrypter or rip it with shrink or Recode. I have yet to see a movie that AnyDVD with decrypter, shrink, recode or DVD xcopy Xpress cannot handle. Only ones with obvious disc damage. You may have a bad disc that just won't copy. Don't give up that's where the fun is; trying to beat 'em!

You need to have decrypter even tho it's not updated anymore. A most useful program. Get it here and book mark the page it has many goodies:

i used to use decrypter all the time so i picked it up again thanks to that link
but never had this
it got 87 percent complete
then this popped up
encryption detected
file vts_01_5.vob
lba: 2904984
the disc is suppost to be protected by css/cppm so this is somewhat strange!
would you like to try and decrypt the encrypted data?
note: if you click yes or yes to all and it fails, try again with no and no to all

I had just also burned The wedding date and it was 100% successful. No error or nothing. I used anydvd first, incase that didnt work, I decyrpted it with dvd decyrpter also, use dvd shrink to shrink, then burned it with dvd decyrpter.
