I opened it in nero, and it wouldn't burn as an image. Then i opened it in magic iso, and tried to convert it to a .iso file, but that didn't do anything. HELP.

The .mds file is created as basically an nfo file for the ISO created by DVD Decrypter. It is used as a set of instructions, telling Imgburn or DVD Decrypter where to place the layer break for DL burns. It can also be used for the SL burns.

gamename is right,
MDF/MDS images are image files made with Alcohol 120%

MDF is basically an CD image file, and MDS is the corresponding catalog file that software such as Alcohol 120% reads. Once the CD image is burned, softwares or movies can then played directly from that CD. Download the trial version of Alcohol 120% from their web for free.
