Hello; I searched for this before typing it in, so I apologize if this has been answered 800,000,000,000,000 times.

I want to run Linux on my xbox, and I understand that there are many solutions to do this, some of which are even on the AID disc.

More specifically; I am searching for an option that can be installed to the hard drive as a program; but not my primary dashboard.

Again; I have seen and heard of a few that do this, stay with me before responding.

I want to be able to install and run linux software on it; that stays resident on the hard drive like a true pc linux environment.

I tried a few linux options, mostly X-DSL. Every time the system is turned off or restarted, etc. all of the settings and files I might have used in that session reset back to the distro's default setup again. I don't want that. I want to be able to add bookmarks, save files, and even run a couple old linux games I have that install to the Hard Disk.

So.... Can anyone help me out here?

I read the readme and the FAQs for X-DSL (The most useful looking one thusfar) and don't see anything about it. It's like instead of using my hard drive; it's just storing everythin in memory; because if I try to download a file over about 56 mb; it suddenly dies on me, until I restart it; and no remnant of downloaded files seems to stay either.

I don't understand why it would do that; but from what I am seeing, all symptoms point to that...

Any suggestions?
