I've been using CloneDVD2 since december and I love it and never had any problems, until now that is, I finally got my car back together with my Alpine DVD player after been dissassembled since november and i've noticed that all my regular dvd's and all my old dvd's that I made with DVD shrink work and the ones made with CloneDVD2 come up with an error but work in my house, what is the difference and how can I fix it?

Is there any difference in the media? I'm wondering if you could have a media compatibility problem. Normally the digital data is compliant if it's playing on the standalone system.

Sony is good media, and not just because I use a lot of it. The media is made by different manufacturers, but they've all been quality sources, so far. Strange some work and others don't with just the difference being Shrink as the source of the universal playing discs. Just to check things out, are you still able to play Shrink transcoded discs in the car DVD player? I mean doing a new one, not the ones you already have.

Well if Shrink no longer works, then that sort of eliminates it as a factor. What you're saying is that DVDs you record no longer work in your car. Using Memorex is sort of going backwards, there's better media.

Obviously, something has changed since you did your previous recordings. The first thing I'd do is make sure that those discs that are the same, really are (unless they're from the same spindle). Download and use DVD Identifier to check the manufacturer codes. Some equipment like a player, may have problems with a newer type media. Next do a read scan of the DVDs that won't play to see if there are any errors. Home standalone players are more forgiving than most equipment. If all that checks out okay, see if a recording from another PC works. Hopefully one of your friends or a family member has a PC you can do a backup on.
