Is there anyway of telling weather a laser has died like test or something or something visual. I have been throu all the cleaning and laser setting guides and tried standing it on its side but still get disc error. it wont play originals or backups (using swap 3.6 and flip top)this is one of 3 ps2's ive got and as a new laser is expensive I need to know if it is dead before I buy a new one.

Have a look at the guides here, but usually if it won't pick up originals it's dead..
