Does anyone know why my PS2 slim is hanging games? is it the laser? or anything else please let me know thanks.

Originals or backups?

If it is originals, chances are they are scratched or it is your laser. If it is your backups, it will probably be your media, or laser.

Look at the - Games stuttering and skipping or just not booting up at all?

Mik3h beat me to it..same advice and try cleaning the lens with some alcohol..

These things just die!! mine worked one day and not the next, consider them disposable..You can buy them for less than 20$

You sure did. We asked you if it hung with originals or just backups. Only if it were with originals would you go out and pay for a new laser fitted. It's probably the media you are using with your backups. I told you this, if it's your backups then it's probably the media. IE. The disc brand you are using.

a new laser can surely not hurt, but i agree. before you go out and do anything drastic you should let the people here help you and try to narrow down the problem.

It won't hurt yeah, but it sure was a waste of money if he had a slimline, they aren't so old. Not old enough for a new laser anyway.

yea it does it with all games. I just popped in a brand new Syphon Filter and it hung in the middle of loading. I Put the new laser in andremoved the solder. I think I did a good job with the solder. Now how loose is the laser supposed to move? Is it supposed to be tight or loose? may be it is too tight
