Well, I see I am not alone in this issue. I saw a prev thread talking about Divix (no idea what that is) with a similar problem. Read the thread but it was all greek to me.
I have spent nearly 2 months attempting to combine my 1.4GB home dvd movies onto a large 4.7 gb dvd. I have bought numerous dvd's to record onto.
I am now using Made in Japan Taiyo DVD-R's to record onto.
I am doing a dvd decrypt then dvd shrink for each small dvd and then I use Sonic MyDvd to create 3 small dvd's onto one large dvd.
EVERYTIME, I seem to get one spot on the newly made large dvd that freezes up but the audio continues. Sometimes it will free itself & catch up & continue. I have re-done this process more times than I can count thinking it is me and I have made sure all the discs are sparkly clean b4 I decrypt & shrink. It happens regardless of which dvd player I use or even my computer to watch the newly made dvd.
Im no expert on burning more than one movie to DVD or indeed burning at all. However, I have learnt a lot by reading the guides on this website and the links provided to other people's guides (e.g. Scuba Pete's).
I had a problem similar to your own and from what I have learnt it may be a combination of different things:
1)The media - The discs you are using should be fine, they are recommended on AD alot.
2)Software - Get Nero 7 if possible. I tried a lot of burning programs before settling on this, including Sonic. There isn't much you cant do with Nero IMO and its easy to use, however should you get stuck there is an entire section of the forum dedicated to the use of it.
3)Burn Speed - Check the speed are you burning at. Try to burn at half the maximum burn speed of the media you are using. Although I always use x4 regardless.
4)Drive Firmware - Again I am no expert on this but it is recommended that you check and update the firmware on you DVD Drive if needed. Use the link to the thread above I think there are instructions there.
Please note these suggestions are by no means exhaustive. It may be one, all or none of these things. As I said I am no expert, I have only been burning DVD's for several days myself, the above suggestions are just what I have picked up from AfterDawn, their guides and a little help from kind individuals that use this forum.
Lastly may I suggest that you post a bit more info about the hardware you are using and also the file type you are trying to burn so that the more experienced amongst us can help you.
