They may be ok,but if you buy it now-Total of around $31 with shipping, not including insurance.
Way too much!
Here's some better media,cheaper:
http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-4x-dvd-r-media-silver-...
These are silver thermal taiyo yuden-tape wrapped:They code as Ty-G02 and some of the finest media made. I believe they are $27 including shipping for 100. No writing on these discs, just like those ebay riteks. Twice the quality, and cheaper!
You can also find those same Ty-G02 shiny thermals at rima.com and meritline.com. Maybe even under $25 per 100?
Ebay isn't exactly the finest place to buy media. High prices after shipping and a lot of fake media out there. Look at the ty media from silvertek. Loads of fake tys from them, and a lot of threads about that seller here at AD.
Edit: My bad,for 100: They are $29.99
You should be able to get them even cheaper at rima.com or meritline.com

I've had no problems with ritek for films, but for PS2 games they are useless.
The load times are slow and the playback is choppy.
I only use Taiyo Yudens now, the films are no different but the PS2 playback is as good as originals.

SS2006,
First off, look at the person's feedback, he's using switch and bait...Dysans for Ritek/Ridata's.
Most people that shop online go to BlankMedia.ca. I also notice many independant computer stores carry Ritek or are willing to get you them. That goes for TY's.

oops, that's bait and switch.
Why not try in store sales? Staples, Future Shop, Best Buy...look for made in Japan Maxell, Fujifilm, Sony. Verbatims go on sale quite regularly at Staples.

Benq: Love their drives,I wouldn't try their media
Comstar: Never heard of them,so I'd avoid them.
Fujifilm: Only if made in japan. Some low quality manufacturers on their taiwanese media-especially the dash format.
Maxell:Trickier:
Love their plus format-japanese spindles/packs are Hitachi.Ritek makes majority of their taiwanese spindles.
Maxell Dash: Hitachi's on their japanese spindles/packs,riteks on the majority of their taiwanese, but chances for crappy cmags on the rest of the taiwanese maxells. The majority of those cmag reports are from canadians, but they're working their way down here to the USA.
Memosux: Too many crappy manufacturers for their media. Very hard to find the good manufacturers like mitsubishi and ritek. Cmags make majority of their media.
ss2006: What's the brand name and model# of your dvd-rw drive?
Some other brands to beware of:
HP/TDK/JVC/Store brand named media/Imation/Datawrite/philips

One of my sons and his buddies have had the best performance from Verbatim -R's for their PS2 games(oops meant XBox games). This is the most expensive media in terms of regular and sale prices. Waits for sales...around $17 - $18 CAD/50. Staples is pretty well the only store that carries Verbatims in our area, so I can't speak for where you are located.
Doesn't watch many movies on the PS2 or XBox anymore. All the backups have been primarily MIJ Maxell +R's booktyped to DVD-Rom. I personally do the movie backups and they have to play in ALL our family dvd players. No problems at all with the Maxell MIJ's. On sale around $30 CAD/100 at FutureShop. Best to go instore so you can hunt out the MIJ's. We don't have any Best Buys, but looking at their online flyers, they generally have the same sales at the same time. Best Buy can sometimes be cheaper, so get Future Shop to price match. Future Shop is a subsidiary of Best Buy in case they give you any flack about not having a Best Buy in your area.

Bigtoxy69. I went to my local Super Walmart and they had loads of Hitachi maxell!! Prices are dropping. Their reg price is a little over $22 per 50 pk. All their 50 pks were Made in Japan. The only taiwanese maxells I could find were in the 3 pk with jewel cases.
I can't wait for staple's to have them on sale, and go over to walmart to get those sweet maxell hitachi's.
Made in japan Fuji/Sony/and Maxell are some of the best discs that you can find locally. Lots of taiyo yuden in those japanese sony and fuji spindles, hitachi in the japanese maxells. Top Notch stuff, and same exact price as the lesser quality made in Taiwan spindles of those brand names.
Verbatim would be another top choice, and easy to find locally,as well as buying from internet stores.

saugmon- I hear you Oh Green Jedi master!
I was all set yesterday To Load up on the Mij sony's @ bestbuY but all was taiwanese ! Checked Two walmarts also No Japanese or No sony ! Considered ordering online but when you factor in shipping cost I can get media here for near the same price even with taxes! I know that sometimes shipping is free but then the shipping is just factored into the price & the prices highermost times . I did'nt use the exclamation point that time , there may be hope for me yet! Or maybe not! Well sunday may bring us another sale hopefully Something like Sony or Verbatims or dare I say it Maxells ! Anything but Memosux! Question you seem pretty up on the Ritek brand Have you ever ordered The Ritek Ridata 8x DVD+R's from newegg ? and are they of the same quality as the Maxell & officedepot DVD+R riteks ! as long as they code the same they should be the same quality right ? Riteks own brand should be atleast decent ! Newegg has them for like about Original Price: $39.99
Instant Savings: -$15.00
$24.99
Free Three Day Shipping Weekend Sale! are they worth looking into or should I just wait on the sony's or the verbs ! happy Shopping!

I did alot of chasing around town for Sony MIJ's, and they just dont seem to be available (unless they are the 16X's which are not TY). I think Sony is mainly MIT's and non-TY MIJ's, which get mixed reviews. Save yourself the hassle and just order online. You can get a 100-pack of the best media out there (TY) on-line for under $30.
Happy Burning!

basquiat:Yep,genuine taiyo yuden. I haven't seen any fuji 16x media yet so I can't confirm their MID codes.
Sony 1x-16x,yep. Remember this foam spacer theory. This spacer can be viewed without opening the spindle-look for color and shape:
Look at the labels for Made in Japan for the dash. Then look for the white octagon foam spacer. That should yield the Ty-g02 in the dash 1x-8x speed and the Ty-g03 in the dash 1x-16x speed. The round/gray spacer will yield regular sony media-both japanese and taiwanese.
I did notice my next door neighbor super walmart have these sony dash 1x-16x japanese spindles with the white/octagon foam spacer and most definitely would be ty-g03. I wouldn't pay the $23 a 50 pk spindle for them. Guess I'll have to wait for staple's next sony sale so I can get them to price match them..
Plus 1x-16x sony: Same spacer theory applies, but not as strong as the dash format. Some reports of Yuden000-T03 on the japanese spindles of sony plus 1x-16x,just not in my area.

I havent been on the hunt for a couple of weeks now, so it sounds like Sony's MIJ -R's are beginning to appear again. A month ago, it seemed that MIJ -R's were pretty rare (in my neighborhood), and (even though Im a dash guy) I ended up getting +R 8x MIJ (TY), as the MIJ +R 16x's were Sony21 or something. I decided to stick with my tried-and-true TY's. Glad to hear that the -R TY's are resurfacing with Sony. Sometimes it's nice to know you can run down to your local neighborhood OfficeMax/BestBuy/WallyWorld and get what you need!
As Saugmon says, look for the white octagonal spacer as the tip-off to TY's on MIJ Sonys.
