Can anyone tell me if there is a way to back up a back up copy of any movie that DVD Shrink was used on. I always get errors. The 1st back up was made using DVD Shrink, AnyDVD and Nero.

Since a backup has already been ripped, you can just use Nero express and choose copy entire disc. There's your backup of a backup.

1) What's the Brand name/format/and speed rate of your blank media?
2) What's your DVD-RW brand name and model#?
3) How fast did you burn them?
4) Did you multi-task during the backup process of that backup you want to rerip?
5) Did you place a paper/sticker label on that backup?

Your backup copy has no encryption. No need to leave AnyDVD activated. Just right click on the fox icon/and click enable to disable it. It's already down to size,no need for DVD Shrink.

If you can't re-rip your backups for extra copies using your normal rip with DVD Shrink and burn with Nero process, then you got too many errors on that backup.

On any backups that you can't re-rip:
Media quality
Burn speed-too fast or too slow
Burner quality-fw updated or you may have a poor burner.
Sticker labels

Those are the usual culprits to add errors on backups. Too many errors or errors in the wrong spot and you'll get crc errors.

Outdoor posted making an iso from DVD Decrypter. Decrypter is a more aggressive ripper. You'll need to change a couple settings.go to tools/settings:
CSS- Brute force
File I/O -Ignore all read errors
OK

Open up DVD Decrypter, insert backup disc/ Mode/ISO read to harddrive.Take note of where those files go.

After ripping-takes longer with more errors on it,and it may not work wither: Mode/ISO read-locate those mds files/open/set burn speed/burn away.

I re-rip my backups on the fly using nero's copy disc. Too many errors, and I'll Coaster out my backups. Dvd shrink's normal process would be safest way, which you can't. DVD Decrypter ISO read and write is next option.

I've been able to copy backups when I record my original on the Imation scratch resistant DVD blanks, even though a "regular" dvd r may play in your player, it only takes a few scratches to make it impossible to copy.

Verbatim disks+burn at half speed= 100% backup of a backup with Nero copy disk!

Thanks to all I will try the different options you all have listed. I used Memorex in the early days of my backing up and now I use Imation and Sony media DVD+R. I use DVD Shrinks default speed which I think is Max. I believe the errors are CRC errors. I do use sticker labels but why is the label a problem?

Memorex media: 70% of it is c magnetics corp-cmags for short. Not very good media quality. This stuff has to have a slower burn speed.

Imation: They use some crappy manufacturers as well. Again, slower burning required.

Sony would be by far the best quality out of those other 2 you used.Taiyo yuden makes some, and sony makes the rest.

Max speed is no good. Some of these 16x dvd writers will overburn 8x media to 12x and even 16x if the burn setting is left at max. Sony +1x-8x will burn 16x in my benqs.

Sticker labels: Major no-no. They need placed perfectly on a disc, using a special applicating tool. I've helped countless members here over that last year and a half and their playback/re-ripping issues were because of those sticker labels.

Why:
Heat build up
Peels up on the edges
Can flake off in your drive/s
Unbalanced/wobble

Some people have luck with them,a lot don't. Eliminate the media quality/burn speed/ and those sticker labels would be the next thing to change. Try peeling one of them off and see if you can re-rip them.

I'd still like to know what brand name and model# of DVD-RW drive you are using.

My DVD drive is a NEC DVD+RW ND-1100A. "Burn Speed" I use DVD Shrink And Nero Automatically opens and asks for a blank to burn. How do I change Burn Speed. DVD Shrink from what I see doesn't have these options and I don't know how or what speed to change in the auto window for Nero. Nero install versions are Nero Digital 3.1.0.21 & Nero 6 Ultra Edition 6.6.0.18.

Also How do I burn the File from shrink on the hard drive if not automatically?

Thanks

I totally agree about not using sticker labels. I know they look good and everything but they caused me nothing but headaches. I had all sorts of problems watching my burnt copies and as soon as I stopped using the labels everything was fine. Just use a Sharpie marker pen to name your disks and forget the labels.

Too bad you dont have Nero-Recode... I've had the exact same trouble your havingusing all the same programs your using... just my Nero is a newer version... and I solved my problem by backing up the back up with Nero-Recode selecting two pass burn @ once method.... and I have yet to have this problem again.

Is Nero Recode a free upgrade with registered Nero 6?
