If I'm installing toxicOS, do I need to install the network driver disk first? If so, is one driver version better than another? i have the first network disk released and v3 (i think v3) or does toxic have it's own drivers?

the chip will have nothing to do with setting up your system for connection to play online.
Use the disc.

So I would need to install the network adapter disk to ftp ect with the chip? Is the later version better, worse, same?

yes, the chip has nothing to do with the internet or FTP'ing
those are all seperate programs.
