Can someone explain the difference.

I am looking at purchasing either an Epson 220 or 300 series printer and was wondering if I would be better off with one type vs another

Thanks in advance

When printing on discs:

Ink won't adhere to the thermal printables.

Ink will adhere to the inkjet printables-white and shiny.

The shiny inkjet printables look very close to the same as shiny thermals. Huge price difference as well. Those inkjet printables usually run twice as much.

For the epson stylus photo R series:

Use inkjet printable media. Either white or shiny. I love the looks over the shiny inkjet printables over my white ones.

Then you can sort out if you want full hub or regular hub inkjet printable media.

Make sure it is quality stuff. Lots of crappy inkjet printable media out there like prodisc and cmags. Stick with taiyo yuden/ Maxell hitachi/or Verbatim.

The prices on the net for inkjet printable media is cheaper with the dash format. Plus format is a lot higher, especially on shiny inkjet printable media.

Regular hub: These print approx 14-15 mms from the inside of the hole
Full hub: Print right up to about 2-3 mms from the inside hole. Much better picture for the full hubs.

No problemo littlegun. My first purchase of printable tys resulted in the shiny thermals for about 25 cents each. Very good price, but couldn't use them in my Epson R-200 printer. The old sharpie sufficed for the labeling of them so no big waste.

I noticed walmart dropped the prices of their 25 pks of maxell full hub inkjet printables. About 50 cents each now and that's pretty decent. The japanese spindles of those maxells will yield Hitach made maxells. There will also be taiwanese spindles mixed in with them. They may yield cmags which are a lot worse quality, but the same exact price.

That's the reason I suggest genuine Taiyo yuden or Verbatim for for media.

Avoid memorex printable media.

On the web purchasing: Make sure they say "Inkjet printable" in the main heading of Rima.com/meritline.com/and supermediastore.com

BTW: If you got a local staple's,they seem to always have some of the older epson models on clearance. My local store has had them on clearance several times.

If you get one, there's a couple of places that you can get ink cartridges very cheap. Under $19 for a set of 6,including shipping.

Last summer,I picked my dad up the epson r-200 when staple's had them on clearance for $50. This way,I can buy 3 sets of ink at private.abacus24-7 for $55 to keep us supplied.

Last month, staple's were clearing out their r-320 printers for $99 or so. The r-340 replaced that model.

Had'nt checked the price on the cartridges for the R220/300 series Epsons but I usually order my Compatible cartridges for my Cx-7800 from ezinkjets.com very reasonable but I only order when they have a big sale like every couple of months often it's $45% off & free shipping ! Have ordered several times from them & only had a delayed order once ! Sent them a nasty email & got my order in two days from the email date! No problems with since then & have oredered again ! I don't work for them or anything like that , Just don't like paying the big epson price when I run dry on ink! Pretty flush with ink cartridges now so probably won't be ordering for awhile but thought you'd like to know about the website ! happy Printing ! They also sell a CIS = Continous Ink System That I think fits the R- Series epsons So Like if your a Person who prints in volume might be cheaper inkwise in long run ? Might be worth looking into for you R-series owners ? Good Luck & Burn Kado Burn"

I checked out that site last night. Only had a 5% or 10% discount at that time, which would have made them a lot more money that private.abacus. PM me next time you see the %45 discount so I can try them out bigtoxy69.

I still have 1 extra set remaining. Since covers.to has shut down,my labeling has also slowed down.
