just to give a heads-up to anyone using norton.....i don't know if this problem happens with all versions or just norton internet security which is what i run, but i was having problems with clonedvd freezing during the buffering end stage. the dvd would be fine, but i would have to restart my computer because of this freeze. i tried many different things and finally figured out that it was my auto updater for norton. i have to disable it while i burn and then it is fine. just thought i would share incase anyone else had this problem.

i would rather be hated for what i am, than loved for what i'm not

Norton sucks. If it is your system isn't destroyed by malware or a virus, it will certainly be by Norton "Security" (ha, ha!) products.
They have a 30 day "money back, no questions asked" policy, which I happily used. What a piece of crap.

I have used Symantec products since 1997 and I don´t have any problems since 2001 whith freezing programs or malfunktions.

Now i use Norton Internet Security 2005 and Antispyware from PC-tools without any problem, they work fine with all my Slysoft and Elby products. But i heard that many Copy programs freze after some time if they been cracked and give another program on your machine the blame just 2 protect itself. Many years ago (I Swear) I had a cracked versions of Clone CD, Windows and many more and i belive it´s about that time my hair got grey.
On my new computer i don´t have cracked versions running and my problems seems to be gone.

So my opinion is you get what U pay for.
And I don´t think Symantec/Norton "sucks"
but it´s maybe feels nice to have someone 2 blame !!

Norton is a System Hog!

AVG has picked up viruses that Norton's has missed/dismissed. My vote is for AVG.
I have used Norton since 1996 thru 2006, didn't realize how hungry it was until I tried AVG (use it at work and it seems fine) discovered that it picked up several bugs/trojans that were on two different hard drives. SO, I am now a certified AVG fan. Just my 2˘ worth.

All of those programs should be disabled and the internet disconected during any DVD burn process to eliminate any random conflicts which can be disasterous for DVD burns....(IMHO)....

I agree Danwer, no single virus program will ever stop every virus, I've used Norton's for years until the wife kept picking up trojans from her surfing/ coupon hunting/ deal grabbing habits, the IT guy at work suggested AVG which seems to work better against web site and E-mail based viruses, and I tend to agree with him. I'm sure that Norton's will work wonders for some people while AVG will give them nothing but headaches, just my personal preference now runs for AVG. I have also tried Mcafee, Computer Associates (Free with Road Runner Cable) and each have their own issues.

More info on viruses nd software.

I have a corporate version of Norton 2005 and although the suite is large, it has proved effective. To the point raised about closing it when burning...someone long suggested that to me too...and I have not experience any problems burning...use CloneDVD And DVDFAB Platinum

With me I have never gone short with my Antivirus Security. I always make sure I purchase my system software soo it does not have glitches or much...

I use NIS 2006 a ligit version and it works excellent...

And I have bo problems with CloneDVD 2 either... It works well with everything

I also like AVG too and i use that when I'm between NIS versions :)

@ireland

I like ye got the same results: TruStealth all 1056 ports green too. I'm running NIS 2005 expires in 10 days. I hate the program but it has kept my pc clean now for 2 years now. I guess If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I am using norton internet security 2005 and have no problems when burning, but I never use auto-update because I don't want it to come on when I am playing a multiplayer game. I always check for updates manually almost daily anyway. Anyway yes norton is heavier on system resources than some others, but having 2gb of ram it doesn't really make a dent in it and my cpu usage idle is 0-1% so no troubles. I could see if someone had a system with low ram amount like 512mb or under then might see some slowdown. In a couple months my subscription runs out and I will try out something different, possible trend micro, just to see how it compares.
