I'm going to try and buy a used PSP at Gamestop to see if I can find one with v1.50 Firmware. Does anyone know if they'll let you turn on the PSP's to see? or if they'll even tell you? I'm also guessing a lot of employee's probably don't even have a clue.. But I'd rather purchase it direct than online if possible..I'm pretty sure all the new ones in the store right now are running 2.60.. So If I can find one with minor scratches and 1.50 or 2.00 at the least I want to grab it.

~Trust me, they'd never let you open a barnd new one to check, but some know what firmware they are and they would tell you.

I'm also guessing a lot of employee's probably don't even have a clue..

Some do

There is a way to tell firmware though without looking at the box

9. Q. I still want to buy off a shop, is there anyway I can tell, what firmware it is?
A. Luckily, there is 2 way's of doing that, you ask them to check the PSP version (they have to open the box), but theres a very slim chance that there going to do that so I suggest you try this way (Credit to PSPHacks):

Using this picture, when you ask the man/lady for a PSP, check the box and look for this sticker, You can determine the firmware version by checking for a letter code above the UPC on the bottom of the box.

A-1.50
B-1.51
C-1.52
D-2.00 Unconfirmed
E-1.52 (Now Confirmed it is 1.52)
F-2.00
G-2.01
H & Above - Don't buy for obvious reasons. (2.5/2.6/2.7)

Using the above list, photograph, and a kindergarten skillset, we can determine that my PSP was version B, meaning it shipped with version 1.51; yet now I control firmware versions as a god would, manipulating them hither and thither! Muahaha!

ALTHOUGH if you buy a preowned version saying F, so it means its 2.00, If you bought it Pre-Owned, Then you can't gaurantee that it is 2.00, because they could of upgraded. Or GameStop could of Upgraded it.

PS2 Slimline + Swap Magic + Fan
PS3 60gb Version 1.90
PSP 3.52 M33 EUR Black Version + Logitech Hard Case + Logitech 3 Sound Speakers + 2gb Sony Memory Stick
Nintendo Wii + 3 Wii&Nunchuck Controllers
NDS Original + M3 Simply + 1gb Kingston MicroSD
NDS Lite + M3 Simply + 2gb Sandisk MicroSD

As I told you before, if ALTHOUGH if you buy a preowned version saying F, so it means its 2.00, If you bought it Pre-Owned, Then you can't gaurantee that it is 2.00, because they could of upgraded. Or GameStop could of Upgraded it.

But I bought a PSP and it had a F which on the guide it meant 2.00, and wala, it was 2.00. I also bought a G gigapack, and it was a 2.01, these were bought brand new. But it's better to have a feel on what you buy than buying something you don't even know if its a 1.5.

PS - NOOO!!! Man United lost 3 - 0, Screw you Chealsea, you screwed englands hope of winning the world cup!
