I tried dvd fab to decrypt this and it worked fine. When I try to burn it using dvdshrink it gets 4% through and says "incorrect handle". I also tried to use dvd shrink to decrypt and burn and that doesn't work either. Any ideas on how I can back this dvd up?

Welcome to aD!
1st make sure you are using the latest DVDFab - 2.9.7.7.
If that doesn't do the trick then running those files thru vobblanker before using shrink should. Here's a link for a guide:

edit: fix link

wow dude, you made me understand this burning stuff a lot better. I have already burned at least 50 dvds but recently it has been getting tougher and this voblanker thing looks like its really gonna do the trick, I like being able to take out the previews and junk also, SWEET!

I'm at work now I can't wait to go home and try it out. The only thing I'm worried about is making sure I have enough hard drive space, I hope I have enough.

Thanks a lot!

I'm still having trouble now. I first ran the movie through dvd fab decrypter and then I ran the file through voblanker but i didn't blank anything out, how can you tell which file is fbi warning or whatever??? After voblanker was done with the file I hit open files on DVD Shrink and it couldn't open the file. Right now I'm gonna try it again but blank out the extra preview stuff this time and see what happens.

You mentioned having to recode it after voblanker, can i do that with DVD Shrink or not?

You can preview the files in vobblanker and under 'title set' choose to 'blank' it.
Make sure you're picking the video_ts that has the processed files from vobblanker when using Shrink. Shrink can be used in place of Recode.
Let us know how it turns out!

I copied that recently. I used the newest version of DVD FabDecrypter and Recode 2 and it worked fine. I did not have to use any other program.

i'm a little frustrated because i've tried this a few times now. When I go to DVD Shrink and select the voblanked file, it gives me this error message.

"Dvd shrink has encountered an error and cannot continue
Failed to open file"

I simply can't select the file. What am I doing wrong. I blanked all the unwanted previews and did exactly what you showed. Help me please.

If you're following the guide I can't figure out why Shrink is still giving your those errors which usually mean it can handle to copy protection. DVDFab would have taken care of that. Using the latest version? How about free hard drive space - have at least 12 gig free?
Are you also running something like DVD43 when using DVDFab? They don't play well together.
Here's one more guide - same programs just a little more detail on removing the stuff you don't want.
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154

Another way would be AnyDVD and CloneDVD or at least AnyDVD running in the background w/ Shrink. These 2 progs are not free but do have a 21 day free trial: http://slysoft.com.
I have yet to come across a movie they will not handle.
Keep us posted!

i do keep gettin the low disk space warning on my computer but i don't think that's the reason I can't burn this dvd.

I have a second hard drive that doesn't show up on my computer because when I reinstalled windows and wiped out everything on the c: drive I didn't partition the d: drive i guess.

Is there an easy way to make the second hard drive usable without reinstalling windows and starting all over?

If you're getting a low disc space warning you must be pretty low. How much space is even left? May be part of the problem.
For the dvdfab/vobblanker/shrink method you need around 18 gig free.
Each prog saves the movie on your hard drive. When done you need to manually delete them.
Any room you can clear up?
For the 2nd hard drive - are you just using it for storage space?

I only have probably 9 gigs free right now. The second drive I have is a 40 gig and is not being used and doesnt even show up on my computer so I can't use it right now. I would like to be able to use it but I'm not sure how to do it, I guess it needs reformatted and that means I have to reinstall windows and start from scratch right?

I downloaded AnyDVD and clonedvd2 and they worked perfect on Carlito's way by the way.

Glad to hear you finally got Carlito's Way!!
Now for the 2nd hard drive bit.
Here's what you need to do. First when you formatted the drive you removed the physical partition, you created what is called a "RAW" drive which cannot be read via the OS. In order for the OS to reconize this drive you first need to create a partition to this drive. The best way to do this is to put in your XP disk and go through the motions until you see all of your drive letters (as though you're doing a fresh format). You want to select the second drive which should be read now as "RAW". If not, you can also identify this drive by the drive space shown (which can be found on the hard drive itself if you're not sure). You will want to ONLY format this drive so that it has a drive letter, not install Windows, so after the drive is formatted stop the install. After this is done the drive will be reconized. You can then go into Windows and go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management -> Select the drive in question (the second drive) and then right click and go to "format". This will erase the drive again and validate for disk errors. There is an easier way to do this, but it requires a bit of know-how, but this solution will enable you to be able to now have the drive show in Windows and you'll then be able to use it for file storage. Hope this helps!

Sweet Binkie. At first when i tried to format the second drive i got an error and it couldn't complete. I restarted the computer to try again and it wouldn't boot up to windows because the computer insisted that i had no hard drives hooked up. I was panicking because I figured I was going to be out of a computer for a while.

I took off the side panel to the tower, unplugged and replugged the hard drives, blew out the dust, and then restarted the computer and it worked again. I did quick format on the second drive and it has been working great since. Thanks a lot, this forum is awesome!
