HI,
I'm hoping someone can help me... I have DVD Shrink and I use it to backup my movies but I would like to know how to convert the files to .avi so that i can leave some on my HD.(and hopefuly take up less space) I'm kinda new at this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
so let me get this right you want to shrink your dvd to AVI so you can store the movies on your hard drive? how many movie do you plan on puting on your hard drive, and how big of a hard drive do you have? there are a few programs that will let you do that like ashampoo will do that, what programs do you have that will break the copyprotection? you will need a program to do that also any dvd is used here a lot, my self i don't use that program i use dvd region + css free,
I don't know much about this stuff but i would like to store a few movies on the HD so i can travel without bringing DVD's with me. I have a 80G HD on my laptop so i should be able to store a few. I was just wondering if there was a way to change the TS files that are outputed from DVD Shrink so that it doesn't take up 4gigs of space. for all i know it's not even possible. Anyways, thanks for the help... i'll try ashampoo i guess.
Burn the DVD to your hard drive using DVD shrink. This will make an ISO image that acts like a virtual DVD. Once this is done, use Nero Recode to Fit the image to CD (this will shrink the file using either Mpeg4 or avi format) to 700 MB or a custom size or your choosing, have it save this on the computer instead of burning to CD, then you can delete the ISO.
I use 6 personally, and I have done this many times with recode, it especially works well with home movies that are enourmously raw size when I get them on my computer, and the person who made Nero Recode 2 even better just happens to be the author of a few programs you might know, like DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter...
